have 4 yr old twins....have heard that this ride can ruin children from other dark rides due to the witch jumping out....did rehab tone it down any?

Don't know when the rehab was, but we were there in April. My 3 yr old wasn't scared in Haunted Mansion, wanted to ride all of the rides he wasn't tall enough to ride, and generally is not scared of animated/mechanical things, the dark, etc., but was very scared in Snow White. He was a trooper until the witch appeared, then he put his head down and closed his eyes until the ride was over. We're going back in Dec. and this ride is not on our list!

Returned in September from a trip with our 4 year old grandson. (he was not quite 4 at the time). He was kind of timid and unsure of the rides before he rode them. He wasn't even sure he wanted to ride some of them. But we warned him that there would be surprises and things or people (pretend) would jump out to surprise him. But it would be fun and not to be scared because it was just a ride, it wasn't real and it was just for fun. He did great. He wasn't scared at all. I don't think it was one of his favorite rides, but it sure didn't upset him.

I agree that if they have a bad experience on this ride it could spook them from many of the other non intimidating rides. Some kids will get weary just from looking at the outside of that ride. If they do, don't make them ride it. Most kids, however, would do fine if you are constantly laughing it up for the entire ride. You know, " That silly witch needs to watch where she is going...." etc.

What amazes me is how close the animatronics (Evil Queen, evil trees) get to you. I don't mind looking at things and enjoying a ride, but if you can reach out and touch something, that is just too close for me. I personally am not a fan of the ride. I enjoy Haunted Mansion but there is something about Snow White that makes me uneasy.

I rode this one as a test before my 2 year old DD and knew immediately that she would be terrified of this ride. The emphasis is on the witch, who scares DD in the movie, so I know it would definitely scare her to see the witch up close. She actually hid her face and wimpered when the Queen/witch came on when we were watching the movie, so I know the witch would terrify her. I guess they don't call it Snow White's Scary Adventures for nothing:D

This is my least favorite ride in all of WDW.

It isn't interesting enough like HM for older children but too scary for the toddler set.

It did upset my 4yr old but she was OK afterward. We only ride it if we have time to squeeze in a quick ride. I've never seen that ride, even at Easter, have a long wait.

My 4yo keeps telling everyone about how Snow White's witch tried to push a big rock on him during the ride. Clearly, it affected him ;) My timid 8yo didn't care for it much either actually, and she loves the movie!

Watch the movie and see the reaction. My daughter loved the ride even at two. Of course her favorite movie at the time was Wizard of Oz and she loved the wicked witch of the west. Go figure! I think you will be able to tell based on your kids reactions to the movie and how they are in the dark. Giving them glow sticks to wear or light up sneakers may help reassure them too.

I believe the rehab was only for some painting...no "scene changes" or anything.

My now 5 y/o hated this ride for years. She saw it once and freaked over the witch. Mind you, her favorite ride at Disney besides Dumbo is Haunted Mansion. We went two weeks ago and all of a sudden she wanted to try Snow White again. She liked it so much we did it two more times. It is creepy with the trees and eyes peeking out at you and the way the queen turns into an ugly witch.

THis ride has never scared my kids. My DD's were almost 4 & 5 when we first started going to WDW. My DS just turned 3 and has been there since he was 3 months old. I personally think this is one stupid ride. We do always ride it because there is never a line.. and you just HAVE to ride everything! Now my 11 year old is afraid of the Astro Orbiter!!! LOL She says its too high in the air!!!! I told her it was like Dumbo in the air... she wont ride it.. she WILL ride all the mountains, ToT, RnRC.... go figure!!

When DD was 4, it scared her so bad it took us 5 rides on small world to get her on anything else inside a building! She cried throughout the whole ride- beginning at the beginning of the ride when the witch jumps out at you until the end. There was no consoling her. She cried the whole time. Now, she is a very gullable child- believing most anything you tell her, and fully believing in the characters at WDW. She also hid behind me during the parades when Captain Hook, the Evil Queen, etc. walked by us so they wouldn't see her. So, take that into account. But, my niece who was 7 at the time, also hid her face during the snow white ride. I think it is too scary for most small children. My DS was 2 and he did OK- scared him some- but I'm not going to try him again now that he is older. To me, it is not worth putting them on it and risking ruining the rest of the day/morning. DD is now 5 and whenever we talk about our upcoming trip, she says she doesn't want to ride the snow white ride.
Good luck!princess:

We just got back. I rode this with my nearly 3 year old. About 3/4 of the way through he turned to me and very calmly said, "Get me out of here." Thank goodness we were nearly done! He was fine on HM. I think the outside of this ride and how it is set up (similar to Winnie the Pooh and Peter Pan) make it deceiving as to how scary it can be to little ones.

My DD5 didn't have a problem with it. It's Tough To Be A Bug was a different story. We had to take her out in the middle of it and she was ruined for the other 3-D movies. I knew some kids had problems with Snow White so I prepared her for it. We didn't do this until our third or fourth day and we went on the rides that were similar. Before we went on it, I told her a bit about it. She didn't think it was scary or doesn't understant why it is called that.

Each child is different. You will get a feel for how your child will respond once you get there.

I would suggest stay away from. If you decide to do it than wait till last. my DS was 4 and he did not want to go on buzz after he thought it would be the same. He was so upset for first part of buzz till he realized it would not be like snow white.

I would have to agree to skip it. My daughter is now 4.5 years old. Her first trip to Disney was t 2.5 years old, and she has been to Disney 5 times now.

We went on Snow White on her first trip, and she still remembers it. We are going back in January, and she is quick to point out "I don't want to go on Snow White!" But, she does go on Haunted Mansion, she watches scary movies... so it must be something creepy and too real for some kids in this ride.

Have fun. There are so many other rides to love... I wouldn't chance ruining their day. :)

My dd4 is generally not scared of anything - loves Wizard of Oz, scary parts in Snow White & Sleeping Beauty. But she was scared on the ride. I don't think it was the ride so much as it was the darkness. She kept her hands close to her eyes the whole time but did not really cover them. We really tried to prepare her by telling her it may be scary & the old witch comes out, etc & we tell her it is all pretend so she just kept saying "it's just pretend" over & over -lol! The next day she brought my sis on the ride again so I guess it did not scar her for life! Although after that she wore a glow necklace & that seemed to help on the darker rides like HM, etc. Maybe you can bring a little flashlight. She also liked to sit with dh as I guess she felt he protected her! Plus SW is a very short ride, I think like 3 minutes!
My dd4 was a bit traumatized by Philharmagic. We did not even try any other 3D after that. She had to take off the glasses but did manage to sit through the whole thing. She loved the thrill rides so I guess she just likes rides that go fast & are not in the dark!!

It didn't bother my girls last year when they were 5 & 7 but my FIL had nightmares that night after riding it :rotfl:
(And that is no joke!)
