How scary is Snow White?

We're off next year to WDW with our 3 and 5 yr old kiddies - the little one loves Snow White but I am having trouble imagining her on "Snow White's Scary Adventures" - I know she'll be desperate to go in if she spots any Snow White link at all - may have to blindfold her till we're passed it??

If your kids like the movie, then there is a chance they won't be scared by the ride. Personally, I'm a little scared by it, but that's cause I have a great imagination!

My DD (then 2) was scared by it because it's loud, and it throws surprises out at you. In fact the rides she really loved (Small World, the Carousel, the Teacups, the Speedway, TTA) were the ones that were constant the whole way through - nothing lurking around the corner to scare the pants off of her.

Our DD was 3 when we took her on Snow White, first ride of the trip... for us it was a big mistake. Everyone's kids are different, but the witch is pretty scary and kinda pops up on you. It is also very loud. DD is almost 5, and is POSSIBLY considering trying it again! IMHO, I would try a bunch of guaranteed fun rides first. If Snow White doesn't go well, then at least your kids won't be worried about Small World!

This definitely depends on how your child is. As someone mentioned, if your child likes the movie and isnt scared of the witch in the movie, they should be fine. I agree with the other 2 posters in that it is a little loud in there and there are some parts where the witch "pops out" at you a little.

I went on this ride with my 3 yr old niece on this ride and she was a little frightened. Every time we went around a corner, I looked out for the witch so I could divert her attention ("Look at how pretty Snow White is!" or "Look at how silly the 7 dwarves are!!") to other parts of the ride. This isn't always possible, but it helped her focus more on Snow White rather than the witch.

While you're waiting in line, I would also watch and see how other children are reacting as they come off the ride.

This ride is also very dark - so if that is an issue for your kids, I would skip it. Or take a very small flashlight w/ you, like the ones that you put on your keychain and squeeze to light up. This worked for my kids at that age on rides like PoTC.

My hubby and I rode this a couple years ago. My first thought was WOW what was Disney thinking with this ride for young kids. Its loud,dark and scary to a little one. It is fast paced and has things popping up at you. I would NOT have liked this as a little girl. Good Luck and hopefully it wont be too scary for your kiddo's

My DD2 was not afraid on it. And she was/is the type who doesn't like scary movies. Scared with the shark part on Nemo, scared with the alligator part in The Wild, etc.

But she loves Snow White and knows the movie. She did fine. But it is dark and scary. I thought she might be afraid, but she wasn't.

Although the theme of the ride is a bit on the "darker" side I don't think it's that bad. I was a huge chicken when I was that age and I went on it. The witch popping out did startle me a bit but I knew it was coming. I was more afraid of pirates than this ride.

Nowadays though, the ride is a little outdated I think. If you consider all of the scary things kids are exposed to these days, even on regular tv or through a Disney movie, this ride seems rather tame. After all, it doesn't have the special effects and intense cinematic theming that many other newer attractions do. I mean, it looks like glow in the dark paint and cardboard, almost like a local funhouse attraction.

I hope nobody thinks I'm ragging on the attraction. I'm an old school Disney fan and I still go on it. I'm just saying that compared to most modern tv, special effects, and other attractions, I doubt most children would be phased by it. Besides, the witch dies at the end just like in the movie and Snow White lives happily ever after.

My kids did not like it dd8, dd10, dsalmost7 when we went but I did not tell them it was so dark because I didn't know. They are also fraidy cats. DS would probably be alright if his sisters didn't freak him out about stuff. They all thought Pirates was scary too. So it depends on your child. If you really think they want to go on it and you can manage riding it near the end then they won't be scared of other rides if it doesn't go as well as you hoped. I thought the ride was cool and I love snow white. I think if they like the movie they would probably be alright but there was a boy behind us around three that his parents kept telling him it was alright and it was just like the movie and when we got off the boy told them "I never want to see that again!"

Oh I forgot, My dd10 said to me "Mom, now you know why it is called a SCARY adventure!"
Honestly, the ride was cute but it one of those 50-50 things....

It's hard to tell how a child will react. My DS then 3 was scared on it, but was also scared on Aventures of Pooh and Peter Pans flight. He was not, however, scared of Fantasmic so I guess my advice would be tell her it might be scary and if she still wants to go on it take her and if she gets scared then tuck her under your arm and cover her eyes. The ride isn't that long, no more than maybe 5 minutes.

That's what I was thinking. That ride is so short. I would guess even less than five minutes. It wouldn't be horrible to endure for that long if a little didn't like it.

My daughter was 3 years old the first time we took her to Disney. The very first ride we took her on was Snow White's Scary Adventure. Just like PrincessTigerLily- big mistake! From that point on, DD was afraid of all of the indoor rides where she couldn't see what might be lurking around the corner. But she was fine with the outside rides like Barnstormer where she could see the entire ride and know what to expect.

It really depends on your child, but if we had to do it over, we would skip it.

I'm an adult and was frightenend on the ride...the witch jumps out at you. We intend on covering the kiddos eyes on that part.

Thanks guys - great advice as always.

We will probably save a lot of the indoor "dark" rides for our second visits to the park - we're soley doing Disney (nice n slow) for two weeks, so there will be plenty of ops and no rush. Hopefully they will get to try all the things they want to (and us too!)

I imagine the hotel pool and resort bus trips will be their highlights anyway.

Our DD is 3.5 and is obsessed with Snow White, so we were going to give it a try at Disneyland. She really freaked out about it and was much too scared. We were able to get out of the line without it being a huge problem. I think it is called Snow White's Scary Adventures for a reason. Her friend, who was 5 did go on it and liked it.

My dd had nightmares after seeing the picture in her Bernbaum (sp?) book. She still has nightmares about that darned witch! Of course, she made us take her on the ride 3 times after the nightmares, she was scared each time, but didn't flip out like her younger brother (who cried--don't worry, we only took him once).
