How scary is Jaws?

I didn't want to swim in the ocean for years after seeing the movie. If a kid hasn't seen the movie, but does the Jaws ride, is that just as scary as the movie? Worse? Trying to decide whether we should avoid this one. Thanks!

It would probably depend on your kids. We took our 5 yr old son on this one thinking nothing of it. But it did scare him pretty good. I had to keep telling him after that it wasn't real and the shark was like a robot. once in a while he will still ask about it, to make sure we skip it on our next visit.

I don't think it's as bad as the movie and since you know you're going to see Bruce the shark you can kind of prepare. You will be startled and will very possibly get wet but I don't think many people will say it's scary. But of course it would depend on how much the child in question thinks is scary.

You can go to youtube and watch the entire ride video. That might give you a better idea what to expect.

The ride is super cheesy, and when my child was at that age, we would have just had a talk before boarding about how it was all pretend. I think the scariness of this particular ride might depend on how good of an actor your boat tour guide is.

I'd say to stay away from the online videos...better to enjoy it yourself brand new...

It was my two year old's favorite ride last month. We rode again and again. Honestly, most older kids. should have no problem on this ride, but I guess everyone is different.

I had to laugh when I read this. When I read the original questions my first thought was that the ride was more cheesey than scarey.

The skipper is armed with a grenade launcher. No shark can handle that! :cool2:

i think the only thing that is scary in the Jaws ride is sitting in row #5 or 6.
;)

If you're little one thinks the Alien section of The Great Movie Ride is scary then they might think JAWS is scary. But is isn't too bad. No blood and guts - just big, fake sharks popping up.

We've never been on the Great Movie Ride! It's on our to-do list next trip. Dinosaur scared the heck out of my kid, though. Thanks!

I hate being stupid, but what is Bruce the Shark from? Thanks!

Cheesy is good! I think we can probably make do with the talk. Thank you!

I'd like to be surprised. I think the kids are old enough to handle it, based on what I'm reading here. That's funny how much your 2 year old loved it. Thanks!

I hope it is more cheesy than scary. Since it's named Jaws, I expected scary. Good to know, thanks!
