How scary is Expedition Everest? Im terrified, but i want to ride it really bad. I don`t like rides with drops. So on a scale from 1-10, how scary do you think it would be for me? :scared::worried:

Thank you everyone who commented! I rode it and its now my 2nd favorite ride! :)

I LOVE Expedition Everest, but I am a rollercoaster person.....so I will tell you about my sister. She doesn't do rollercoasters....except for maybe a kiddie coaster you go on with your little kids. Somehow she got up the courage to go on Everest. She actually loved it. She could only do it once, but she loved it. It does go through dark tunnels so there is a bit of the scary. I'd say for you I'd give it a 5 1/2 out of 10.

I'm a roller coaster geek so I'm a bad one to ask but if you want to do it badly enough I say give a go, if you don't like it you don't have to ride it again.

Having been on quite a few coasters most if not all the coasters at Disney World are fairly tame even Everest. Although Everest is one of the more fun coasters they have and well worth it even if you don't like coasters. I say if you can do the Mountains in Magic Kingdom than you should have no problem tackling Everest.

I have a bad back and had to give up riding most rollercoasters :sad::sad:.

But even I can ride Everest, and still be able to walk afterwards! So I think you should be fine!

Sayhello

I don't like rollercoasters with big drops, either, but I love EE. I consider it a more intense Big Thunder Mtn. The big drop you see at the end really isn't as intense as, say, splash Mtn, which is NOT one of my favorites (but is a ride I'll do occasionally).

I'm going to move this over to the Theme Parks forum being that it hasn't been mentioned on a recent podcast. There's quite a few threads and posts about Expedition Everest there. :)

I dont like the "drop" of coaster,.....but EE, LOVE IT! my DS, doesnt do coasters and i afraid of heights-he did do EE last trip and that is the one ride he is excited for this trip(oh and he is 17, so not doing a coaster is a big deal-ya dont tell people he is scared of heights) He does SM, BTM and this trip we are trying to get him on RRC! you really think that EE is scarey, but wow even I wa surprised!....NO big drops! I bet, if you try it, you will ride it over and over!

If you really want to try it, then try it. EE looks pretty intimidating when you're looking at it, but the whole ride isn't that bad. I used to not like roller coasters, and it took me a few years to ride EE although part of that was because I rarely go to Animal Kingdom. Give it a try, if you end up not liking it, don't ride it for awhile :)

According to my DD (I do not do roller coasters), EE biggest problem is going backwards. Drop looks terrifying from outside but feels more like a curve when you on a ride. If you are afraid of heights, do not go into first car because you will get a view when you on very top.

I've heard the claim that the drop on Everest doesn't feel as scary as Splash Mountain. More of the 'thrill' with Everest is coming from the backwards run.

It's not a flume ride, so the drop actually is a bit more angled.

I'm one of those who loves BTMRR and Space Mtn and my stomach hates the Splash drop. Finally had courage to try EE last trip and loved it. The "drop" is fast and curves at end - agree similar to BTMRR but a little longer. I was also nervous about going backwards having never done that - felt weird in a fun way - didn't hit my stomach the way drops do. And we went right back on again! I say try it!

There's one major drop on EE, but in some ways the visibility of the drop is masked by the cave you're in when the drop starts. Probably about the same "scary" factor as Splash Mtn in that regard.

I don't like coasters with that long climb to the top (Expedition Everest has that) or a big drop (Expedition Everest has that). Expedition Everest is my favorite Disney attraction. There's sooooo much more to it than what you see on the outside. We do the single riders line and I've ridden with lots of first timers and every single one of them comes off it with a huge smile on their face.

I didn't care much for EE. I like milder roller coasters, like Big Thunder Mountain and The Mummy at Universal (my favourite!). I am generally OK as long as there are no inversions. But for whatever reason EE felt rough on my neck (head bouncing on the seat back) and the backwards part made me woozy. I don't remember any big drops. It just wasn't my favourite.

I would say try it once. You may love it, and if you don't you never have to go again.

I'd put it at about a 4-5 as far as rollercoasters go. Definitely less "scary" than Rockin' Rollercoaster. None of the drops are that bad, and you'll find that you enjoy the "story" of the ride enough that the rollercoaster aspect of it is just sugar on top lol.

My son and I are not rollercoaster fans...we love BTMRR with a passion, though. Since we heard EE is similar, we decided to suck it up and try it. We didn't LOVE it, but we didn't hate it, either.

In comparison, it is way faster than BTMRR (you definitely feel the G-force) and the drop doesn't immediately curve like the small drops on BTMRR, so you do still get the sensation of your stomach rolling. The first couple of seconds of the backwards part are a little disconcerting, but the rest of it is cool.

I'm with the rest of the posters in saying you should try it. It won't kill you, and it's over very quickly. We may actually ride it again the next time we're there, so from one scaredy-cat to another, I give you a thumbs up if you do decide to!:thumbsup2

I'm going to say it's about a 6. It can be intense the first time but it's not jerky and the drop is not as bad as you'd think. It's more angled than a typical "big drop" on a coaster. Actually Betti is the scariest part for me because I'm afraid of animatronics, but that part doesn't last long. The queue is actually one of the best on property so if anything, you should check it out for that! This is a nice little write up on what the ride is like and here's a pretty good video of the entire ride.

I don't like the backwards part either :scared:
