How scary is Everest?

Im a big wimp and dont like HUGE drops I can handle minimal, I really want to try EE, but the only roller coasters I usually do are like the runaway train at Great Adventure in NJ andat that I scream like a baby. So what does everyone think?

Honestly when you see it, you probably wont believe me, but you should......it's not bad at all. In fact, I found NO scare in it, and I get scared EVERY time I do TOT.

The drop from the viewing area LOOKS bad but it's NOTHING. If you are on it, looking down, you can see how really as soon as it gets going it start turning already (you can see in my EE gallery after clicking the link below in my sig).

It's NOTHING. The Yeti is more "cool" than scary.

THE ONLY drop in the ride is the one you can see, and it's nothing. Everything else is simply a left and right turning.

It goes fast but its not scary at all. The drop on SM is worse. The drop looks steep but it curves at the bottom and you go so fast that you really don't feel it.

Its not scary but it is intense. Think BTMRR combined with the speed of RnR. Its a great ride!!

The drop was nothing! What got me was the round and round AFTER the drop. Up until then I loved it!

I don't like the drops on roller coasters either. I watched Expedition Everest being built for three years and thought I'd have to be drugged to get on the thing. I went for the previews and absolutely loved it. So much I went back a couple weekends ago just to ride it again. The drop does look intense. But I didn't mind it at all.

Ummm, I'm going to be the dissenting voice. I rode it back in February and although it is an awesome ride....it is not for the rollercoaster faint of heart (that would be me).

I can handle Big Thunder and Space Mountain with only a slight degree of queasiness (I know, not a word) and they don't "scare" me at all. I REALLY REALLY didn't like the sensations of EE and I was pretty certain I was going to blow when it was over (thank goodness, I did not).

I'm glad I rode it once (like ToT and RNRC) but NEVER AGAIN. Honestly, ToT was much easier to take than EE. At least for me.

If it's drops you are afraid of, there aren't any huge ones. But all the twisting and turning makes me feel sick, not scared.

My DD who turned 6 on our trip rode it and she was fine. Like everyone said, the drop is really nothing. I was actually scared during the ride waiting for the drop and then all of a sudden the ride was over. I was like, where was the drop? It helps that it curves at the bottom instead of going straight down. Go ahead and ride it, you'll love it.

I know everyone's sense of sensation is different, so what bugs one person doesn't bother the next. I really have to decide if I'm going to take DS on EE next month. He is 12, has Down's, and LOVES Space Mountain. He won't try RNR or Splash. He used to love BTMRR, but it scared him last year - I think it was the jerkiness. He loves TT. He loves Mickeys Barnstormer, but is starting to think it is babyish. At Six Flags St Louis, he hated the traditional wooden coaster - the drops were too big. He loves the speed and small drops.

So you do you think EE compares?

For goodness sake, everyday there is a new "How scary is EE" thread. Search back a few days. You say you scream - because you are excited. Not scared. An adult will find nothing to be 'scared' about on EE.

Speak for yourself, I dont find roller coasters exciting at all, and the only reason Im going on is because there are only 2 of us going on this trip and I am going to bite the bullet and ride the ride so DBF has the best possible 1st time at Disney, but if I scream its not out of excitement. And if the thread bothers you dont respond, I wanted to ask the question thats what these forums are for.

For your son, I'd highly recommend that before you make any decisions, take him over to the viewing area that features the uphill climb and the drop right in front. The area is to the right of the entrance. The drop from there looks intense but it really isn't. Most people are a little surprised at first (I won't spoil why) but then it's over and you are picking up speed for the turns. And the ride is the smoothest I've even been on.
