How scary is BTM? Comparison to WDW?

Hiya everyone,

This will probably sound hilariously embarrassing but I'm just wondering how scary BTW is at Paris?

I've never done it before (up until recently I have been an awful ride wimp, took me until last year to finally brave POTC!)
I've recently been on the WDW version and enjoyed that a lot, but after watching onride videos for the Paris one on youtube it looks like there is quite a large drop in the dark at one point.

Is this the case? If so how big is the drop?

My limit on drops would probably be the drop on Splash Mountain at wdw, (that's about 50 something foot if memory recalls). I can also manage the POTC drops, although they do take my breath away a little :rotfl2:

I'm just a big baby with some rides I guess :p
I usually wouldn't worry about BTM cause I know it is actually a fairly tame ride, I just don't enjoy large drops that take place in the dark (I prefer to see where I'm going).

So yeah could anyone clarify if there is indeed a drop in BTM? And if so is it in the dark/how long is it?

Thanks guys!

I´m scared of rollercoaster. And I mean really scared. :scared1: I never did any rollercoaster for over 20 years. :scared1:

I´ve waited all the time at the exit for my family when they did BTM or Space Mountain.

But at our trip in March 2013 it was time for my to ride BTM and my dream came true (you can read all about it the Trip Report Index ***2010 onwards).

So BTM is fast and its in the dark but its not that fast as I thought and there are no drops in the dark part (in my opinion). ::yes::

I never did Splash Mountain but if you like this then you will enjoy BTM.

Go for it. Its my favourite ride now in DLP and I love to ride at late in the evening when its dark ! :cool1:

You see...a very anxious men have discovered a rollercoster ! :thumbsup2

It's fine. Not very different to WDW one. And definitely nothing like the Splash Mountain drop.

There's not really anything steep in the dark. I think people in the video you're watching are just screaming because it's dark rather than due to a big drop.

You will be fine, it is just like WDW if not a bit more tame. Breath and have fun with it.

Aw thanks so much for the reassurance guys :goodvibes
I look forward to riding it in a few weeks!!

We just visited, and I can tell you that BTM is wonderful and is the better than the versions at the U.S. parks. DH and I could not ride it enough. It's very smooth and fun! Space Mountain was definitely more intense than the U.S. versions and kind of gave me a headache, but we just loved BTM. Don't miss it! It's really not scary at all.

seconded - I honestly don't remember very much about my trip to WDW donkeys years ago, but I do remember Splash Mountain - I thought my heart was going to stop :scared1:!

BTM is one of my favourite rides at DLP :goodvibes.

I haven't visited WDW yet, but I've read lots of people prefer BTM at Paris. It is one of our favourite rides as a family at DLRP. A few years ago we had VIP FPs and rode it 14 (or was it 16?) times in one day :lmao:. My DDs were 4 and 7 at the time and wanted to go on more ;)!!

So honestly, it's not that scary - it's great. We got to the point where we knew were the cameras were and tried to pull funny faces on the photos! Can't wait to ride it again this weekend :cool1:.

btw - If you get a chance, ride it in the dark/at night - the view from up there of the Park is just truly magical - breathtaking! pixiedust:
