How scarey is EE really?

I would have to disagree with that statement. Most of the ride you are going forward. You go backwards about 23 seconds of the whole 3 minute ride.

Indeed, the backwards portion is much shorter than the time that you are going forward. However, although short, the backwards portion 'got to me' somehow. I am still embarrassed about that!

Actually, stinkypeet--I understand the name--I am a lawyer and think that people who sue Disney or any other theme park for that matter when someone dies after riding a ride--are completely out of line and just looking to make a buck!

There is not a ride or attraction at WDW that doesn't property WARN people of HEALTH risks. After an autopsy, when you find out that your child or parent died of a congenital defect, that should negate any monetary reward.

Disney does not however, give away any information that may SPOIL the ride! I suppose we could have asked, but like I said, while my son was scared (me too) we got over it! It is not your place to tell ANYONE what kind of parent they are. Unless you are PERFECT, which you are not, you need to keep your slanderous comments to yourself.

You are going to find yourself very unhappy on these boards if you keep slinging slander at people who are here posting requested opinions about Disney issues. Remember, I am a lawyer, and your comments could get YOU sued!

maybe you should take the bar exam again,then tell me im being slanderous? really. get a grip. ds son was 3? put this in perspective. only 18 months before, most children could barely walk and talk. now we all want to give them a thrill of a 3year lifetime. again think about that. how much do we really love our children.

The backwards portion of this ride is pretty intense. You curl up into the mountain, and at one point, when looking straight ahead, I was actually facing down and could see the wooden beams of the ride (illuminated by rays of light coming in). It really pulls you up pretty steep. I thought this was the most intense part of the ride. The drop is no worse than any other Disney ride. The Yeti part is just for a split second...I don't think it would bother him.

Obviously only you know your child best and can make the decision to take him on the ride. I would recommend you ride it first, and then make your own decision. The single rider line actually moves pretty fast, and would allow you to experience it yourself.

I think it depends on the kid. Two of mine could have handled it, but the other was my little fraidy cat - no way! I wouldn't even have bothered. This is the kid who scared of GRASS!

Unless you are a lawyer or better yet, a law professor, you should check your facts.

BTW: The DIS boards have rules as to how you act when you post messages and slinging rude, judgmental comments to people is on the list of WHAT NOT TO DO!

As far as the thrill of a 3yr olds lifetime, I am assuming that you think that everytime a child who meets the height requirement and rides the ride that they are going to die on a ride. Do you not realize how ridiculous that is? I know what rides are appropriate for my children and what rides are not. Do you keep your kids in bubbles so they don't have a bad experience? There is no guarantee for how long you live on this earth and for 99.999999999999999% of the population, a ride at Disney isn't going to be how you kick the bucket. There are many more hazards that can kill you at Disney that you probably do everytime you are there--not to mention that you take a risk everytime you get out of the bed.

Anyway....your comments are starting to make me laugh and the more I read the louder I laugh! I often wonder about people like you. What makes you think that you are better than someone else? What makes you think it is okay to pass judgment on someone you have never met or know anything about? What a pitiful, sad life you must lead. Perhaps you are exactly person you are criticizing others for being--a terrible parent whose children will grow to hate you because you are so critical and rude to other people. They will probably be embarassed to be around you. You are bitter and from this point on, invisible to me!

At 2 my DS begged to ride Goofy's Barnstormer ROLLERCOASTER and LOVED IT!
Same trip he refused to go near Aladian's Flying Carpets after seeing Mickey's Phillarmagic (runaway carpet thing, you know ) but rode Dumbo and AK lookalike with no problem.

Last year (3) he rode and loved BTMRR and after seeing a video of Splash Mountain is excited about riding it this year.

IMHO, I think EE looks and from what I have read here and on other threads is a little too intense and I am glad my DS does not yet make the 44" cut.

BTW Disney attractions page lists EE as 80' drop.

I agree with the other posters that it is a personal choice as long as:
1) you are not dragging your children onto rides kicking and screaming (that just ruins it for the rest of us )
2) your child meets Disney's requirements for the ride (should be #1)
3) you believe your child is mature enough (mentally) to handle the theme of the ride

Well said. There is just something about little adventerous boys that I love! Goofy's Barnstormer was a favorite of my DS3, too.

I treasure everyone's opinion as long as it doesn't cross the "I am God, and can judge you" line. That is were stinkypeet messed up.

If your child has a problem with the dark, I would hold off on it. When I rode, I noticed the children who were upset at the end, were the ones who were afraid of the dark. I heard one parent keep saying to her crying child, "I didn't know it would be dark."

I agree about the parent and child deciding if it is for them or not for them. Just watched the video with ds 8 and dd 5. DS said "NO WAY" and dd was jumping up and down.

The drop is not that bad. I made myself try it last week; I'm not a big fan of roller coasters. I don't ride splash mountain anymore b/c of the drop. I was really concerned about going backwards, but I was ok with it. My husband and kids 12, 10, & 8 thought it was too tame. They said that they would have been really upset if we didn't have fast passes. If you can handle thunder mountain, you can probably handle this.
