How reliably can I get an Uber or Lyft XL to fit 5 people + luggage?

We are a family of 5 (all adults), likely travelling with 2 larger suitcases and 3 carry on suitcases (and each of us with a personal item). We currently have a rental car booked for MCO to drop off at the Port Canaveral Avis location prior to a cruise 3 days later. Cost before gas and tolls is $250. We will only be using the car to go from the airport to Bay Lake Tower, and then from there to Port Canaveral.

I'm pricing out other transportation options to see if it will be cheaper. The pricing for an Uber or Lyft XL to go from the airport to hotel and then from hotel to port might be a little bit cheaper, if the pricing on the actual days is similar to what I'm pricing out on the app. When we were last in Orlando Feb 2025 however, we booked a Uber XL that barely fit the 5 of us - we had to put some of our smaller luggage on our labs. On other trips we got something like a minivan or SUV.

I can only see an option to book an Uber XXL at MCO but not one to from WDW to the port.

What has other's experiences been booking an Uber or Lyft XL, regarding space for 5 people?
Even if a Lyft or Uber XL can fit 5 + luggage, how reliably would I be able to get one through instant booking (because that is the only way it will be cheaper than our car rental option) for pickup at around 830-9 AM to drive us to the Port?

You’re fine.

We don’t safely fit with 4 large suitcases, 4 carry-ons, 4 personal items & 4 people but I wouldn’t hesitate to book an XL rideshare for 5 if we could cut out 2 of the large suitcases.

I don't think I can avoid the 2 large suitcases as we're headed on a cruise. And it's the 5 of us with the 60 min or so drive from the hotel to Port Canaveral.

I wouldn't want to make that drive with my personal item on my lap and possibly a carryon also. You're going to have six adults in a vehicle, plus the luggage. I don't think I could fit that in my minivan without at least one of the carryons being carried by someone.
I would go with two ubers.

Can you book DCL transfers from WDW to the port? One person takes the bus with extra luggage. The other 4 take a regular ride share.

A math question, splitting that way may not be saleable to the family.

Can you fit 5 of you and luggage in whatever you're renting? Probably the cheapest.

A car service, with an appropriately sized vehicle, will probably cost a few dollars more then 2 ride share vehicles. A car service will be the easiest way to go. Worth it for many.

You will get a third row vehicle for the XL. But think about this...what if its an Explorer, as opposed to an Expedition?
Someone will be sitting in that third row. Its tight. The the third row being in use leaves less trunk space for luggage. Not ideal for safety and comfort, IMO.

Sorry, I meant I wouldn’t hesitate to book an XL if my crew could cut our packing from 4 large suitcases to 2 large suitcases. I’m jealous of you 😝 But, I missed you’re going to the port. I wouldn’t want to rely on an Uber for that. As you experienced before you will fit- but once in a while it’s a tiny XL and it could be very uncomfortable for such a long trip. Book the rental or private transport or DCL transfer.

For me, I’d rent the car. Depending on the time of day you could be spending $60 to get to WDW. Our XL from Pt Canaveral to WDW was, not big as others have said, and was $180 before tip. In your case factoring in gas and tolls say you are at $300. $240 with the risk the vehicle won’t be big enough wouldn’t cut it for me. I’d rent.

Go for the Uber XXL. That's what we get with a family of 5 with 5 checked luggage pieces and 5 carry on. No problems with waiting for a ride ever either. If worried pre book a ride

Uber says an UberXL can accommodate parties up to 6 or extra luggage. (Emphasis mine). You might be fine with 5 people and some luggage, but it might be tight.

On Lyft I've definitely ordered an XL expecting an SUV and sometimes I get a 4Runner. I know that's Lyft, not Uber, just pointing out my rideshare experience. If I was on the cusp and really needed all that space, I'd go up to ensure I had what I needed (but that's me).

OP is going to the Port
XXL are mainly to and from the airport. The times I checked Uber XXL wasn't offered to the Port
