I'll be staying off-site with the HP package on June 22 - 25th. Just called the hotel and their complimentary shuttle only runs twice per day, leaving at 8:25 a.m. and returning at 6:40 p.m.

Our package lets us in one hour early. I called Mears to schedule a pick-up at 7:30 on the 23rd and 24th. I don't know why, but the reservationist didn't inspire much confidence. No confirmation number, etc.

Anyone have any experience with these folks? Any suggestion for something better? Also, what does cab fare run from the IDrive area?

We used Mears a lot before we started driving and we never had an issue with them. Of course, it was easy to grab them at the airport but it was kind of worrisome while waiting for a pick up at the hotel. They always made it though.

I think that they'll be there. If you decide to grab a taxi, it's pricey! It really depends on where on International Drive you are.

Your trip is coming up soon! I hope that you have a blast.

look up Murray Hill Transpotation. They have good reviews. I'm going to try them for my trip.

We used mears last time we were there and had no problem

Just reserved for 2 people for Mears on June 20th at 7:30 AM. The lady on the phone seemed really nice and didn't worry me at all. And they take trips back once an hour from 3:15PM-2:15AM, so all I have to do is call 90 minutes in advance to get picked up to get back to my resort! :D and 18 bucks roundtrip is a good deal to me. Much better than a taxi!

If it were me I'd change the reservation to 6:45 or 7am instead of 7:30. You get dropped off at the taxi stand and have to walk to IOA, where you will be competing for queue space with the people staying onsite. 7:30 pickup will get you to the gate around 8am, which will put you at the back of the early entry line.

Also, if it turns out that the driver actually is late you'll have time to call Mears, have them rush someone over and still get there on time for early opening.

::yes::Make your ressie for 6:45 or 7am like Purseval said.It will save you alot of waiting!!

Since you will be staying offsite as part of a promotion your chances of running into other folks on the same promotion are pretty good. You might try making some quick friends and see about splitting the cab fare, save yourselves a few bucks.

They said the earliest time they had available was 7:30. I'm staying at SOG at Disney, so I won't be able to get in until 9. I know I'll still be towards the back of the queue, but that's the earliest they could do.

Call another taxi company, just google Orlando 24 hour taxi. Call around and see if their rates are competitive with Mears or if they will match the Mears price. You're the one with the money, they go by your schedule not the other way around. :cool1:
