How quick is it from Ft Wilderness to MK (LTT)?

Hi!

Can anybody please give me an idea how long it takes to get from the Fort Wilderness Cabins to the MK dock, and then to Liberty Tree Tavern?

It's our first time going and I have no idea--trying to plan for a Fairy Godmother the night of the Oct 5 MNSSHP and a 5:30 LTT ressie :)

I had reserved my Fairy Godmother at 5, but now I'm thinking half an hour to get from the cabins to the restaurant isn't going to happen...

Any guestimates will be appreciated! How far into the park is LTT?

OK, get your sneakers on, ready, set GO!!!

;)

This trip will take you a lot longer than you may think, partly due to waiting for transportation. First you have to catch a bus to the Settlement area, walk over to the marina, catch a launch to MK (may be a 15 - 20 minute wait), ride tha launch to MK, then walk through MK to Liberty Tree Tavern. A realistic estimate is about an hour, if the wind is at your back.

I agree that you are cutting this way too close. You could conceivably make it in a half hour, but that would assume that the boat would be at the dock at FW when you arrived, and took off right after you got there.

Realistically, I'd leave at least an hour for this, as FWGuy suggested.

Good luck!

We stayed at the cabins in February. Not only do you have to consider that you may have to wait for the boat once you get to the dock (and we waited as long as 15-20 minutes), you also have to consider the amount of time you need to get from your cabin to the dock, whether your renting a golf cart or taking a bus that's another 10 minutes.

Then once you get on the boat you will stop at WL to pick up guests there and then you'll arrive at MK probably about 15-20 minutes. THEN, once you get to MK, it may take another 15 minutes to get from the boat to LTT. Now I'm out of breath saying all of that. Definitely 45 min to an hr. If you catch the boat right away that can shorten the duration. But, realistically 45 min. minimum from cabin to LTT (door to door).

You can probably change your PS from 5:30 to 6:00, if not see if your FG can come a little earlier.

There is a FG at the LTT on MNSSHP? I have my ressies for Oct . 14 for the LTT and MNSSHP, but I haven't heard anything about a FG. What is that about?

We are also planning a trip for late August, also staying at FW and I have never even heard of a Fairy Godmother...can someome please tell me what this is!!!

Thanks,
Michele

Fairy Godmothers is a babysitting service out of Orlando and they are great! All of the sitters are mature (older) women who have been checked thoroughly. They usually bring games/toys/etc. to keep the kids entertained. Also, they will take the kids to the parks, playgrounds or out to eat if you want them to...or they are perfectly happy just hanging out in your room/cabin/villa if that is what you prefer.

I highly recommend them...in fact they are the only sitters my kids have ever had.

WOW--reality check!

I really appreciate it, y'all :)

Least now I have a better idea of the how long everything'll take. So basically from your cabin to MK'll be about 45 minutes I take it.

I'm planning on renting a cart one day while we're there, and I think I'll just do it on that day anyways so at least we won't have to wait on the bus. Hey, maybe I can even turn it back in on the way to MK... Carts are SO expensive! Oh my goodness, something like $44 a day.

Yep, I'll either have the Fairy Godmother show up half an hour earlier or just do another ressie half an hour later then.

Glad to hear they're highly recommended :)

We have a little boy who's autistic, and FGs were well spoken about for great care. I called them today and talked to Gertrude; she said that normally they charge $12 an hour (I have two small children) but when I mentioned my son is autistic she said $14--which is fine. They also charge $12 on top for transportation.

One more question:
Can anybody recommend a good cabin? I've heard 2500 Loop is great for location. We really need quiet and shade--does 2500 have that you think?

Thanks again, y'all :)

FFerret -

Re: Renting a car - Just remember that if you drive to the MK you will actually be parking at the TTC. You will still have to take the tram from the parking lot to the TTC itself and then the monorail or ferry to the MK itself.

I would definitely give youself a good hour to get the the MK if you go strictly with Disney transportation and 45 minutes if you drive yourself to the TTC.

Hope this helps.

I'm glad you mentioned that :)
I was thinking about taking the car to MK as well, but I forgot about the transfer there at TTC

WDW can be so overwhelming for a newbie!
Where would I be without you guys :)
