How Pooh Friendly are these rides?

I am 5'4 and weigh 300lbs. I'm trying to lose some weight, already lost 140lbs, but I'm still currently 300lbs.

We are going to disneyland in 2 months. I want to do Space Mountain, Tower of Terror, and California Screaming (not sure if I got the name right, the roller coaster at CA).

Before I make a fool of myself trying to get on the rides, how likely will it be that I can or can't ride these rides?

I'm a woman who carries my weight all over. I know some carry it upper body or lower body, but I carry it all over. If that makes sense.

I'm excited for the trip, but also nervous about being rejected from riding some of the rides.

Thanks!
Char

First off, congrats on the weight loss :cool1:

It's hard to tell to be honest, but hopefully others might be able to help more.
My ex was over 300lbs but he was also 6feet tall, and was able to ride all of those.
I am pretty sure you will be able to ride Tower of Terror, and I am thinking Space Mountain will probably be ok as well, as long as you can cross your legs at the ankles so the bar can come down far enough. The Screaming I am not sure.

Wow, congratulations on losing 140#. That's great! These rides are fairly tight side to side. ToT only has a lap belt, space as a lap bar, and Screamin' has a shoulder bar. As long as you can get these restraints to "lock" it will work, but to be honest this might be difficult. Space will probably be the most problematic. You still have 2 months, so maybe you'll be fine. I've seen some fairly large people on these rides, but it's hard to predict without seeing you :guilty: Sorry i can't be more specific.

Congrats on your efforts!!!

Check out the rides you are interested in on you tube. This might give you an idea of what the ride seating is like. I think you'll be able to ride the ones you listed.

FYI For rides with a "Pull out seat belt" pull the belt out before you sit down. Star Tours and Soar'n both have pull out belts. Doing it this way makes it easier for me.

Enjoy your trip!!

I fit on the rides you mentioned and I am the same height and weight. Have fun and enjoy your trip. Congrats on the weight loss!

You shouldn't have a problem. I am close to your size and rode all of those rides with no problem last month. The ride I had the most trouble with was the Silly Symphony Swings, barely fit into the swing. I rode just about every other ride and didn't have any problems. Have fun!

I think Space is the tightest squeeze of all of those. I have seen someone turned away, but the CM's were very discreet. I only realized what was happening because I was seated in back of her. If you have trouble, just tell them that you have decided not to ride after all.

Actually, now that I think about it, I know they have a handicap accessible car that you can take more time getting into and situated. I wonder if you asked nicely at the beginning of the line if that would be an option? Or if you need a GAC to take advantage of that car.. ?

I just wanted to say congrats on the weight loss! That is a huge accomplishment! I jumped on this thread because my DSIL is about your size, but it looks like we'll be there around the same time, so I can't tell you for sure! When are you going? We'll be there Oct. 9-14. If I get back before you, I can tell you how it goes!

I think you will be fine though. My DSIL was able to ride all of those at WDW - or their equivalents - and I don't think she will have trouble. She had a harder time with rides like Dumbo or POTC, which were a little harder for her to get in and out of. But the lap belts and bars always seemed to fit fine! The only thing I'd say is to not ride anything that has a lap bar with a small child! My DD3 always pulls the bar down too tight for whoever is sharing the seat with her ;)

Good luck, and maybe we'll see you there! I'm sure you'll have a great time!

congrats on the weight loss...I too have been in your shoes...Ive lost 125lbs myself and trust me I know the concern and feel your pain and you are actually a little taller than I am..Im only 5 ft. I am finally after years and years almost in the 100's:woohoo::yay:

I fit on the rides you mentioned and I am the same height and weight. Have fun and enjoy your trip. Congrats on the weight loss!

ok i get TOT and maaaaaybe SM but you really could ride on screamin??? the lap bar came down all the way????

I think Space is the tightest squeeze of all of those.

...I personally never tried Screamin' until just a month and half ago...I said it was because i was too scared and that was partly true but also because I was terrified the bar wouldnt come all the way down and lock well enough and they would ask me to leave...Ive been able to ride SM being about 25lbs heavier than you are now and until I hit like 275, although I could do it, it was very uncomfortable...I always sat with no one in the seat next to me but my legs felt horribly squished and every turn and bump, I felt it bad...
I never had problems on TOT EVER!!!...the only other one I would not ride over 250lbs was Splash...I could get in no problem but getting out of it was a whole other issue...the last time I rode before I lost my weight, I had to have help from 4 people and I was mortified and swore I would never ride it again...thank god I can finally ride it...oh and just an FYI pooh is a really tight fit ...good luck:goodvibes

For rides with a "Pull out seat belt" pull the belt out before you sit down.

This cannot be emphasized enough. Yes yes yes, pull that seatbelt out before you sit down. I'm not sure how it helps, but it really really does.

Screamin'...it will really depend on how you carry your weight up top. DH is 5'10" and was creeping up close to 100 lbs over you, and he has always been able to ride, even though he has a very big top. Broad chest and big, and big belly. The first time he tried it he was so nervous he managed to pull harder with one arm, and got the other arm stuck straight up, LOL, but the CM noticed, opened his harness, and let him try again.

The one ride that still exists at Disneyland Resort that DH cannot ride is Goofy's Sky School. He tried it when it was Mulholland Madness, and because his legs are big tree trunks, he couldn't get them low enough to allow the bar to come down under his belly. So that is one you might want to watch out for.

I wish you the best of luck!

I am an inch taller and weighed about 20 lbs more than you. I also carry it all over.

I have ridden all the rides you mentioned (including CA Sceaming) and have ABSOLUTELY no problem.

Don't let it bother you. You will be fine at Disney. There are some tight turnstiles (just turn to the side), and pulling out the seatbelt before you sit is a great tip.

I have not had this same experience at other parks (Sea World, Universal, etc), but with Disney, go, have fun. Don't stress.

A huge congratulations on your weight loss. Keep it up :)

SM has an extra car that you can see on a side track that they use to load/unload guests with accessibility issues. If you mention to the CM that you need more time to load, they will take you to that car and give you plenty of time to see if you fit. As far as I know, the car is the same size as any other SM vehicle...when you've gotte situated, the vehicle will slide onto the track.

I am 5'6" and 215 and top heavy (biig ****s)
Tower of terror is no problem, lots of room. California Screaming is fine BUT know that the bar that goes over the shoulder may make you claustrophobic or not make you feel entirely safe if it doesn't go all the way down (my fear since my ****s don't allow this)
space mountain I believe you can get into but for me personally I have a hard time gettingin and OUT of the ride and they need you to do this in a hurry because of the way the ride is constructed, people in and out in so much ride or esle the cars back up and the ride shuts down

and congrats on the weight loss, I wish I had that self control and discipline
