How picky are you about haircuts?

I gave up haircuts during the pandemic. It got a bit long. I finally went to the local Judes barber shop where I had gone before and got the only bad haircut I have ever had. Got home and my wife was horrified. We went back together the next day and had it fixed. This is the before picture:

I'm very picky. One would think wavy hair would be easy and it would be tough to mess up, but you'd be very wrong. My haircuts are $ but I only go twice a year and I stopped using a ton of product because I can't find unscented so my last cut was done to fall nicely without any product, a walk in can't do that with my hair, I've tried. Each cut is $100 but $200/12 is a bit over $16 a month so no guilt at all.

My stylist is a freaking sorcerer...so she is the only one I go to. I get compliments from strangers all the time. People constantly begging me for her number (even on vacation). I am loyal.

DH cuts his own hair with a Flowbee.

I am not picky at all.

I get my haircut at whichever Great Clips has the shortest wait when I go to do my online check in. There are 5 Great Clips all within about 5 miles in various directions around my home.

Some of my friends are already horrified that I use Great Clips but almost collapsed when I said I went to so many different locations and did not even have a favorite stylist.

My hair grows quickly. I do sometimes get a haircut I like much better but have yet to receive one I was disappointed in.
Me, too. My DD and I both get ours done at Great Clips and have no issues. She has long thick hair and mine is short.

My dog's grooming is way more than our haircuts combined. :crazy2:

I get my hair cut every 6 months or so at Supercuts. It is cray how expensive even that has become. I'd hate to see what the "salon" charges.

Very picky. I pay more than I care to admit getting my hair cut and colored every 8 weeks. It doesn’t even need to be colored I just don’t like my natural color (mousy brown). Most would probably consider it a waste since I mostly work from home and most of the time it’s in a messy bun. But it makes me feel good and something I do just for me.

I'm fairly picky. I go every 8 weeks. I moved over the summer and had to leave my stylist of many years. Thankfully, I found someone who turns out to be even better. It's the first time in my life I've had a stylist who knows how to work with my hair's texture instead of just trying to change it. She also moved from the state I moved from, a year before me, so it has been nice to be able to connect over that.

Wavy hair is the devil's work.

I have been going to the same woman for over 25 years. We are close in age and we had kids around the same time so we have a lot to chat about every visit LOL. She also cuts my girls' hair.

I’m picky. My family all goes to the same stylist. I go every 6 weeks for a cut and color. I pay around $80 including tip. My son and husband pay around $20 for a cut.

I've been going to the same lady for years. She's become a close friend and part of the family technically as her daughter married my nephew. She does a great job on my hair. I don't go very often, tho........maybe 5-6 times a year.

I'm not picky, as my hair is med-long and straight, and just needs an occasional trim.

My niece (who works in a salon) sometimes does it if she happens to be visiting - which is fun, because I spent a lot if time braiding her hair when she was little, and it brings back memories.

But if I'm just sick of the scraggly ends at a random time, I'll run in a chain place without thinking twice.

Been seeing the same person mostly since middle school. She has a shop in her home. I'll sit down and cry when she retires, which could happen at any time.

I’m picky. I grew out my hair, to my natural color a few years ago and I love it. Most of our local hairstylists want to focus on coloring hair, so finding one who is great at a long female haircut can be difficult. I found one about 6 months ago and I love her! Just went yesterday for a blowout and style. Feels so good!

I thought that most woman had their hairstylist that they always went to. I know that the woman that I have been going to has a full list of long term clients. She rarely has space for new people. My hair is thick and has some fun cowlicks that makes it interesting to cut. And I can't imagine trying to go to another person each time and having them mess it up. She always has to go back when it is dry to certain areas because the hair lays differently when wet.

Well, if a nearly 60% rise in pay equals a nearly 60% rise in expenses, it seems kinda pointless.
Other way around - the expenses require a rise in pay.

Also, if you live in a place with higher wages, don't you pay more into SS and then get more when you retire? (I'm on a pension plan, no SS for me so I have no idea )and your house is worth more, you sell it when you retire and then more to a less expensive area, right?

Back to the haircuts - I've cut my family's hair many times, and I've cut my own, and I've been to a strip mall-type place a few times. I'm not picky :)

Why is there a cat tree in your garage? Do the cats stay there?

Well, I usually am in a pony tail or bun, so...eh. I go to a men's barber, as a female, because it's a friend. She does a good job, but I just get a basic trim every 4-6 months. So...meh. I am always getting compliments, and always have, on my hair, so I must do something right....
