How picky are you about haircuts?

I set my clippers to one or two and proceed to cut. I've never paid to have my hair cut in my life. I guess you could say I'm not picky at all.
Number 2 on the clippers, walk into the bathroom, throw a bin or something in the sink, walk out 2 minutes later with a fresh hair cut.

I am picky about the price. I have been going to the same Barber Shop for 62 years. LOL. Same shop, 4 different owner/barbers.
My shop just this year has gone from $12, to $15 to $17.
I went from March 2020 to November 2020 without a hair cut during the pandemic because all the Barber Shops were ordered to stay closed. My wife bought a home hair cut kit for $20 and she and my daughter cut my hair a couple of times after November.
My son used to drive me nuts when he hit college and was going to Great Clips like places for a $30 hair cut. Funny how things change. He has two kids of his own now, and hit cuts hit own hair to save money.

My friend is a professional hair stylist and she has been doing my hair for about 15 years or so. I go over her house and she does it there. She is more particular for me than I am. Honestly I feel like I’ve had the same hair style since I was young lol. If for some reason she ever stops doing my hair I certainly won’t want to pay a lot so I’d probably go to either Hair Cuttery or Great Clips.

The barber that DH and DS go to now charges $25. I don’t even think the cuts are that great, but they like it there.

I cut DH’s hair during Covid (and DD cut mine) but DS wouldn’t let anyone touch his, lol.

I am pretty particular. Although I had no hair for a while there (during chemo) so that helps keep it in perspective a bit.

I went to a lady for 35 yrs but she retired. I am fortunate to have found another lady I like as much, plus she holds a special place in my heart for coming to our house twice to do Mom’s hair while she was on hospice (cause Mom was all about her hair). I can always get an appt and with tip, I pay $33, going every five weeks or so. I usually bring her a little treat of some sort to show her how much she means to me.

Now if we want to talk cost of dog grooming, that’s a whole other ballgame. I paid $180 for two dogs this week, with tip. Normally it’s $77, with tip, for just one and he goes every five weeks. (I tried to do his grooming myself but it was too stressful.) Fortunately the other dog is just a once or twice a year thing. I met an older lady last week out dog walking and she told me she can’t afford to get her own hair cut much these days because it costs $120 to groom her dog once every six weeks. Not sure how this will pan out in this economy.

When I was grooming my own dog I had people ask if I could do theirs - maybe I could re-think it as a side gig.

Your the second person in this thread to throw out $30 at Great Clips.

My haircut is $19 with tip at Great Clips.

I know I live in a lower cost of living area but never thought a haircut would cost 60% more in CA vs GA. Wow.
Well, that's the difference between a $15 an hour minimum wage (going to $15.50 in January) state versus a $7.25 an hour minimum state like Georgia.

Not picky. My hair is straight and fine. It's always a waste of money when I have someone cut it. I prefer doing it myself because I know how to get the light layers I want and get it to do what I want. (Section it off, twirl and snip.) There's one spot at back of neck I can't get to. DH makes sure that part is even.

Well, if a nearly 60% rise in pay equals a nearly 60% rise in expenses, it seems kinda pointless.

Yes I'm picky. I go to a stylist that cuts my hair with multiple scissors and pay $22 + tip. I do not want to just get a "buzz" cut and the couple of times I went to a place that only used electric clippers, the DW and DDs asked what heck happened to my hair, they're also were not a fan. LOL

Every Barber I've had cut my hair uses both electric clippers and scissors. And when I was younger, they had to use "thinning" shears because my hair was so thick. My current barber does not use a straight razor to shave your neck and around your ears. That requires a special license in California that they do not have.

We only go to a place in the next town over called The Clip Joint. It's a great place, good haircuts. I pay $25 for a cut including tip. It's a neighborhood place that's been there for over forty years.

The hair stylist I use now I found at SuperCuts. I desperately need a cut and color and my usual hair stylist was going to be out for a month. I had thought about changing stylists any way. The stylists at SuperCuts did a good job. I'm not so picky about cut, I think that's simple enough, it's color. I get my hair highlighted and I don't like to look like a washed out blond. Sometimes the color is just too light for me. I like a honey, golden blonde which isn't so easy to get, at least in my experience. Well, after my first visit with her at Supercuts she tells me she's going to a different salon. So I've been going to her now.

I'm not picky and go to Great Clips as well, but only one because of how badly the others in my area have screwed up my wife and kids' haircuts. I wear a hat 90% of the time I'm out of the house so I rarely fuss about my hair.

Great Clips doesn't pay minimum wage.

I'm very picky. I always go to the same person until they move, retire or I don't like their work anymore. I need keratin treatments about every 3 months. Then I need a certain cut with layers and texturing. I've been going to the same guy for about 12 years and he does a great job with my hair. He's also very friendly and has a great sense of humor, which makes appointments with him more enjoyable.

I always go to the same Great Clips near me, and pay about $13 for the cut and tip $5... and no complaints, it works well for me.

I've been going to the same person for about 15 years now. She's younger than me so hopefully she won't retire on me!

I have a fairly short, precise cut. I don't have great hair. I have a lot of it but it is SO soft and fine that it just hangs like a wet noodle on it's own. She cuts in very precise layers, does razoring to get it to lay right, plus add volume. And it ends up looking great.
