Am I crazy to consider MVMCP on 12/22? It's the last party, and I'm sure it'll "sell out" but how many people is that? How does a sold out Christmas party crowd compare to a crowd in July? August? We aren't interested in meet-n-greet, but would like to ride a few things (BTMRR, HM, Pooh, Peter Pan), see the decorations, shows (are there shows anymore?), parade, fireworks. Will it be worth our money AND is it going to be stupidly crowded (like in the daytime at that time of year)?

The DisneyParksBlog.com described the new holiday version for Mickeys Very Merry including a new Minnie firework display and new holiday theming for Tomorrowland Speedway and Teacups and Monsters Laughing Floor and The holiday parade with Santa! I think it sounds worth the crowd. What else are you going to do?
Be sure to visit the lobbies at all the hotels for holiday decorations and especially the new resorts Riviera and Destino Tower at Coronado.
When was your last visit for the holidays?

We're doing the Ultimate Christmas package as our first Christmas at Disney (first away from home at all really) and we'll be there for the 22nd party. We know the park will be crowded but will still be fun.

The hub and Main Street will be very crowded. Pretty similar to how those areas will be during the day.

The rest of the park will have relatively light crowds, relative to the daytime crowds. The only exception may be Fantasyland.

The lines for the rides you mentioned will be reasonably short, and much shorter than they will be during the day. Lines will likely top out at about 15-20 minutes, worst case 30 (Peter Pan is the likeliest to hit 30).

With reasonable planning, you should have no problem knocking out everything you mentioned. This assumes you are okay with decent spots for the fireworks/parade/shows. If you must have the best of the best spots, it may be difficult.

Meet and greets are the biggest time wasters at these events, so your lack of interest in those is a big help.

My wife and I will be attending that day, so I definitely feel it is well worth it!

I think you are underestimating the wait times a smidge. They increased capacity last year and the wait times were more like 30 minutes for most rides and an hour for 7DMT. That's still pretty low lines for MK compared to christmas week daytime but without fastpass those waits do add up.

leebee, I don't have any answers for you but I'm booked for the very first MVMCP (11/8) which is predicted to be a sell out. I can certainly let you know how it was when I'm done, but you'll probably have already made your decision by then!

I have to say, if I were vacationing with DD all this decision making process would be so much easier; she and I are park fanatics. DH, not so much... he's more of a Disney-light kind of guy. I don't want to overwhelm him with too much theme park time (or let him see the cost of tickets... )

Do any of you have any experience as to how far in advance the parties sell out? We're looking at maybe 12/20, but I want to maximize my savings on Disney gift cards to pay for parts of the trip, and I need to spread that out a bit, so I'm wondering how late I can leave that part of the purchasing. Thanks for any help!

Touring plans did a blog post about ranking the MVMCP dates in terms of how crowded they were.

I had read a lot of articles about MVMCP, including on touring plans, but I somehow completely missed that one. That is exactly what I was looking for - thanks!
