I'm thinking of taking my girls to get their ears pierced I know by 6/7 I had mine done... what are your thoughts on it? Either way I'm gonna do what I'm gonna do... Just wondering what ya'll think ;) :dance3:

I don't know. I had mine done at 6 months old so I'm probably no good to you....lol

Just trying to keep the political threads to a minimum so I'm posting anything I can think of ;)

How is your pregnancy going?

I'm going to leave it up to my DD. They're her ears, it's her choice. Any time she wants them done, I'm ready to take her. If she never does, that's okay, too.

I had my ears pierced at age 10. My great-aunt took me. My mother never got her ears pierced -- so she was never really inclined to take me. Ear piercing wasn't her cup of tea.

LOL...it's going great. I've have NEVER been this tired before though. Not when I was pregnant with DD. I feel like I can't do anything without wanting to lay back down. I'm just so anxious, I can't wait to be where you are.

Hope all is well... :)

My theory is to let them do it when they want to and are old enough to understand that it is going to hurt a little, and old enough to keep them clean until they heal up. My oldest wanted to do it at five, but "it's going to hurt a bit" staved her off until her 7th birthday. My younger daughter is nine, and hasn't got past the "it's going to hurt a bit" yet. She's still content with stick-ons. My husband will smack me if I let my son get his pierced. :lmao:

This is a big question for us too. DD is about to turn 8 and wants it done...I'm not sure if either one of us is ready for it! She's not very good at taking care of stuff, KWIM?

i figure let them do it when they decide to IF they are responsible enough to do the care that has to go into it initialy.

it's kind of a non issue with dd (14), she talks about it periodically but since her school permits no jewlery of any kind (including small studs or posts) the only time she'd be able to have it done is during the summer-and then they'de likely close up because she could'nt wear anything for school or school activities.

i'll pass on a great tip though-in addition to whatever you use for cleaning newly pierced ears, apply a tiny dab of medicated vaseline to the lobe and gently run it into the piercing site-that way when you rotate the stud during the initial healing period you are'nt constantly breaking the skin which can lead to painful inflamation.:thumbsup2

I had my ears pierced at age 13, so i had DDs ear pierced at age 13 as well. For years she didn't want to have it done, and I wouldn't have forced her to do it. But then her BFF got HER ears pierced and that sealed the deal.:goodvibes Since them DD has elected to have a second piercing done in each lobe.

I had mine done at age 10. My DD was 8. She started asking questions around age 6, and it took her that long to get up the courage. I say when they're ready, go for it.
Of course, she's now 11 and questioning a second piercing. I'm gonna say no on that one for a while.

We always told DD that when she thought she was ready we would let her get her ears pierced. We let her know that there would be a small pinch when it was done but, after that, it wouldn't hurt.

One day, when she was 5, she told me that she was ready. I asked her if she was sure and she said yes so off we went. She squeezed my hand during the first one and, when it was done, said "Was that all?". I guess she'd built it up in her mind to be much more painful than it was.

So...my opinion is that whenever the child is ready it's fine.

DD#1 had her ears done at 3 months. DD#2 had hers done at 6 months because when she was 3 months old her ear lobes were too small.

I remember begging my parents to let me get my ears pierced from the time I was about 7 years old. Finally when I was about 11, my aunt took me as a Christmas present. :cool1:

I guess because it was such a big deal to me, and I had to wait sooo long to get it done, I just did my girls right away.

DD#1 had her 2nd holes done last summer when she was 12. DD#2 has no interest in multiple holes (yet).

BTW...I take them to a jeweler who freezes their ears before piercing.

Oldest DD was 5, second DD was 2 (almost 3) and youngest DD (3) hasn´t had hers pierced yet. She doesn´t want to.

I got mine done at 6 months, so I can't really help. I know I'm glad I had it done at such a young age that I don't remember it. I don't ever wear earrings but I like to know I would be able to if I wanted. Unfortunately one side is closed up and I'm too much of a wimp to get it repierced.

No real advice, just a funny story. My sister and I wanted our ears pierced real bad. My dad was dead set against it. No way, no how.
Shortly after my mom died he started dating a wonderful woman. One time when my dad was traveling out of town she took my sister and I out for dinner and after dinner handed each of us a present. They were earrings. We told her we didn't have pierced ears. She said not yet.
So off to the mall we went and she got our ears pieced. :lmao:
My dad was real good about it when he go home and they've been married 30 some odd years now so he couldn't have been too mad. Oh and after she came into our lives we got to start wearing jeans too. I knew she was a keeper! :thumbsup2

I always said that I'd wait until my daughter wanted to have them done. This spring, at 4 years old, DD said, "Mom, I want to get holes in my ears like Cousin." So, I took her down to Claires and let her pick out her own earrings. She was a real trooper and didn't have any problems.

When the first six weeks was up and she could wear other earrings, I took DD to Walmart and she bought some new earrings with money from her piggybank. When we go to WDW in a couple weeks, one of the things DD4 wants to buy with her spending money is a pair of princess earrings.

I had the kids done at 3months. My doctor said it was fine. The hospital would've done it but I wanted to wait.
