How old were your pets when you got them?

We have four cats.

Our 1st one we got when she was 6 months old.
Our 2nd kitty was from the one and only litter of our first.
Our 3rd kitty we got when she was 5 months old

Our 4th kitten is only 9 wks old. We got her 3 weeks ago and is she vicious!!...... constantly biting us and attacking us when we try to be nice and hold her and pet her. I thought little kittens were sweet and cuddly. It's been a while since we had one this young!! Maybe she has to be taught to be sweet and cuddly!

Simba was 8 weeks old. Cali was a stray so we aren't sure, but Vet said she was 1 or 1 1/2.

Our dog Duke is 12 1/2 years old...got him when he was 1 1/2.
Our cat Sassy is 5 years old...found her when she was almost 6 weeks old.
Our cat Jinx is 1 1/2 years old...got her when she was 7 weeks old.
Our puppy George is 5 months old...got him 2 months ago.

Ditto - but instead of Simba, say Wedge, and instead of Cali, say Tycho. Wedge was our baby kitten and Tycho was adopted as a "young adult".

Kipper, our cat, was supposed to be 7 weeks when we got him. He was so small and sick that we took him to the vet and found out he was only 4 weeks and needed to be bottle fed. The previous owners had been feeding him tuna, soft cat food, and all kinds of other stuff mixed with milk! At times I thought he would die, but he is now almost two (oct 28) and is a whooping 15pd, 4oz (my 6mo old is 15lb,14oz ).
He had his mean and wild moments when he was a kitten, but when he was "snipped" he became a real sweetheart!

Amy - about 6?? from the pound about 5 yrs ago.
Angel - about 10?? from the pound about 1 yr ago.

My 2 dogs will be 12 in November and we got them when they were 7 weeks old.

We got "Beethoven" when he was 6. My other 1/2 had passed away and I happen to see an ad in the paper for a free shih tzu and thought that would be a good companion for my DD(almost 10 at this time). I called the number listed and the women was moving down south and could not keep the dog in the new condo she was moving into. She interview my DD & I and 15 other prospective "Parents". A few days later she called and said she had chosen Us to be his new parents! We were thrilled and he's been with us ever since. Very hard at first....but we all adjusted just fine....he's now going on 14 years old!

We got our dog, Minnie, at the local Humane Society on April 15. They estimate that she is between 2 and 4 years old. She's a cutie--looks like a little black mouse

We got our cat, Sassy, when she was about a month or so old. She had her 4 babies when she was a little over a year. We have all 5 here.

Dogs:

Snickers - 8 wks old now 11 1/2 yrs (a mix from the SPCA, good little guy)

Jack - 13 wks old now almost 7 yrs (rough Collie, was a "present" for my husband, he'd had a Collie as a child, but ended up being my baby)

Shasta - 5 wks old - she was 10 yrs when she passed 2 wks ago half chow/half black lab, she looked like a big bear

Cats:
Sox - 8 wks old - now 12 yrs old a "tuxedo" cat ( she was also being fed goat's milk by her owners and was very sick from it when we first got her)

Patches- do not know , approx 1 yr old- was a stray at hospital where I work - now about 12 yrs old her name says it all

Bob- came from the hospital too- we have had him 2 1/2 years now so he's about 3 1/2, and WILD. He's a Maine Coon and is absolutely the sweetest cat I have ever owned, and the ONLY animal my husband has ever brought home. Looks just like a little Bobcat (doesn't have a tail either, not sure if he was born that way or if someone cut if off, vet thinks he was born without it)

Dog - Bernie - adopted from People for Animals when he was about 1 1/2 years old (11 years ago)

Cats - Squeak - rescued her when she was about 2 1/2 weeks old. She was from a feral cat who had a litter - Bernie found them and slobbered on Squeak. The mother cat took the other 3 kittens away and left Squeak behind. She is a terror - just like your 4th kitten, Kitty! Never was socialized in a feline group.

Gray cat and Tabby cat (original names, huh?) - adopted from a friend of DD whose mother had died and the friend had to move to Maine. Gray cat was about 7 years old and Tabby cat was about 3 years old. That was 4 years ago.

Nukat - showed up on our porch March 6 - crying, starving, skin and bones. He's probably about 10 months old. He's very sweet, but timid. Has already put on a LOT of weight. Have to get him to the vet to be neutered.

Calico - barn cat - adopted at about 8 weeks old, 10 years ago.


Pony - Snookie - bought her when she was 15 years old, 10 years ago.

Horse - William- bought him when he was 15 years old, 5 years ago.

My Scotties:
Mac -- got him at 15 weeks from an excellent breeder. He just turned 9 and is the joy of my life.
Tipper -- adopted from the SPCA when her first owner passed away. She was 4 and a few months. She will be 7 sometime this month. We don't know the day, so we celebrate on the last day of June to let her be as young as possible.

Misfit was 4 months when we got him from the Humane Society (is now almost 3). And Bella was 6mos-1year when I found her downtown. We've had her since October.

Max, Milo and PepperAnne were probably 4 weeks (almost 5) owner lied to me... they were feral kittens living in her barn... they are 2.5 now

Blaze and Sage (now both gone) were both 12 weeks when we got them.

Skye was 11.5 weeks.

Sienna was 5 months when we actually brought her home, but 3 months when we put our name on her.

Leo and Gabi were both 11.5 weeks.

Gabi's kittens will be as soon as she has them.

Husky/Shepard Casey was 2 years old
Maltese Charlie was 1 year old
Cat Jack was 4 years old
Cats Fairchild and Dr. Jones were 6 weeks old
Cat Hannah was 10 days old (I bottle fed her and her SIX sisters and brother for weeks)

I don't know why, but I really prefer to take the older animals from the shelter.
