How old were you?

My first time to DL was at 18, it's been my one and only time there. Rest of the times were to DW, both as a child and later as an adult....and now as a parent of 3, can't wait :hyper:

I believe I was 10 the first time I stepped through the gates. We would go every couple of years (my Aunt and Uncle lived in Huntington Beach) and it was a 1 day adventure from sun up to sun down. (Usually in August, the hottest part of the year). That was also when they had ticket books and once you used up all your 'good' tickets you had to buy more. My Mom didn't ride the wild rides so we took Dad on the Matterhorn and all things that were 'wild' back in the day.

We would go down every couple of years and I went to Grad Night for my Senior Year. That was when you had to dress up to get in. Flew down to DL, stayed up all night then flew home the following morning. Long night but fun.

From there I didn't go but every 4-5 years (still with the ticket books and before the day passes), but then I found a friend and her parents who were just as Disney obsessed as I was. From 1999 to about 2006 we would go down to the park about 1 time a year, and sometimes it would be a two trip year if I was lucky.

In 2006 DH and I did both DL in the spring and WDW in the fall. I tell ya, WDW liked to wear us out!! That was our 2nd WDW trip, with the first being in 1996 or whatever year DHS opened. Altho we did enjoy seeing WDW and maybe one day we'll go back, my home park is DL, the one that Walt built.

Since 2009 we have been AP holders and average about 2 trips down a year. Pretty sad when on our last day we're already deciding when our next trip will be...I love me some Disneyland even tho I'm way grown!!

Wow so many Aussies on this thread!

I was 27 by the time I finally made it to Disneyland. I feel like I have more of an appreciation for it having had to work hard and save my own money to go. I was immediately addicted. I was also bitten by the travel bug on that trip :rotfl:

First time at DL I was 8, then again at 14. But I didn't truly fall in love until I took my own daughter for the first time when she was 8. That was five years ago, and we go once a year now. :)

Our first trip to WDW was a few weeks ago. We loved WDW, and we'll be back for sure. But DL is my/our first love.

I was 23. (I'm 33 now.) I grew up going to WDW so at first it was just odd being at Disneyland. But now I love it!

I went a couple of times as a child. Then I went at age 21 with my bf (which is now my dh). But I didn't fall in love with Disney until age 32 when we took our first trip with our kids (ages 3 and 6 at the time). I think it had a lot to do with seeing Disney thru the eyes of our kiddos. It was truly magical!
