Wow! I was 23 when my daughter was born and every parent I meet here in DC is at least 10 years older than me so I am shocked to see that my age group is 2nd in the poll.

I was 30 (just had him 7 weeks ago). Ideally, I had wanted to start having babies younger, but we had trouble getting pregnant. I can't believe that by the time we are ready for #2 that I might be considered to be in the high risk category.

Having lived in the DC area most of my adult life, I agree. I'm always so surprised to see so many young parents on the DIS....they are definately the minority here in D.C. Perhaps because housing is unaffordable for many young people save those from affluent families...many people wait to have children. I know I NEVER considered having kids in my 20's...I wanted a house and the security of a good job before embarking on parenthood. I also wanted to be sure my marriage had what it took to withstand the pressures of parenting...we were married almost 10 years before we had kids.
