I was 29 with DS#1, and 11 months later I had DS#2 when I was 30.

I was 27, DH was 30. We had been married almost 10 years, had a nice single family house and two excellent jobs. We were very lucky. :flower:

Having lived in the DC area most of my adult life, I agree. I'm always so surprised to see so many young parents on the DIS....they are definately the minority here in D.C. Perhaps because housing is unaffordable for many young people save those from affluent families...many people wait to have children. I know I NEVER considered having kids in my 20's...I wanted a house and the security of a good job before embarking on parenthood. I also wanted to be sure my marriage had what it took to withstand the pressures of parenting...we were married almost 10 years before we had kids.

That was very smart of you. I wish I had done that. My marriage wasn't the greatest to begin with. After dd came along, it completely crumbled. Although, between you, me, the lamppost and everyone else on the DIS, I'd much rather have dd than exh! :rotfl: She's my little princess. :goodvibes

If I ever decide to have another child, I am going to wait until I've been married for awhile. :)

Glad to know I'm not just hallucinating about life in the District! You're right, I'm sure it has a lot to do with how expensive everything here is, plus unless you live in certain areas of the city you can't really use the public schools so there's another expense. Of course, you could always be like us-have no income, take out huge student loans each year, and live in a condo way too tiny for 2, let alone 3 people! Honestly though, I'm so glad we had her when we did (even though we hadn't planned to have a baby for another year) but I would kinda like to meet some other moms my age here in DC-most of the mom's from Madison's preschool thought I was her nanny when she first started!

I was 26 when DS was born - but we had started trying when I was 23. Took a while.

WIll be starting again in a few months - I will be 27 or if we wait until after March - 28

I was 40. None of my friends had their kids much before 30...on purpose, anyway. Many of us didn't even start trying until 35, and we had careers well under way.

I had my first at 37 and my second at 39. It was a great decision for me. I was not ready to be a parent in my 20s. Most of my friends from college waited until they were in their 30s (and they are all in the midwest).

I was 19 when I had my first born - now I am pregnant at 31 :)

God has a sense of humor......

My DD's conception date was my 20th birthday. Nice present.

We didn't expect to have children that early (we were already engaged but waiting until I finished college to get married and start family later on) but since stuff happens we made the best of it.....

Won't say it's been easy though....

I was 22, DW was 21. Both our kids should graduate college by Dec. 2006. We'll be in our mid-forties. Parteee!!! :cool1: :cool1:
