This makes me feel a lot better! I usually get some much __ for getting married as young as I did. But, I look here and the people married for 20 plus years have been married since they were very young, too. Maybe we know the secret. I'm secretly plotting my revenge when they finally do get married and then turn around and get a divorce and we're chugging along happy as clams. No one said it better when they said succes is the best revenge.

Legally, when I was 19 and he was 25. The big party and the big white dress when I was 20 and he was 26.

I was thinking very much in the same vein, where are all of those who married later in life.
Perhaps those who marry younger also have a bias towards enjoying Disney type vacations hence a higher proportion on DIS married younger?

I'm here! :teeth:

DH was 43 and I was 39...it just took us longer to find each other!

I was 16, he was 18. We were married for 10 years, divorced, remarried 5 years later- had a child, divorced after 25 years marriage total....I don't think getting married young is the key. Let's face it, when you are that young and you get married, it's about the hormones and stupidity! Sometimes who you become as adults separates you so much there is no way to make it work. He liked partying, going to casino's and chat rooms with other women as an adult...I wanted a partner who enjoyed being home, and who felt the little things were important. My EX's fav word for me...don't worry about the small stuff! Uh, honey, people our age are beginning to think about their future, don't you think throwing a big party but having to use credit cards to feed all these people is a little extreme? How about we save up for a family vacation instead? No? You WANT to play poker with your buddies till 5AM instead?
My second marriage happened when I was 42. I found the Perfect Man IMHO. Loves being home with me, is my partner in all ways, we have a retirement plan in place and we are enjoying our family vacations. This summer we are even taking my mother with us for a week at the beach. It doesn't get any better :)

I was 20 and DH 21, we will celebrate our 24th anniv. this June.

I was 3 weeks into being 21 and DH was 24. It will be 14 years ago in September. :)

I hopefully have not taken this quote out of context, but I cannot agree with it.

When DW and I got married our ages were similar 19 and 20 but we married because we were in love and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and did not want to wait years to marry, no we did not have much money and yes it was a struggle to begin with but if anything that helped develop our relationship working together as a team.
I for one was not always wanting to go out and party I wanted to do things together and if that meant sitting together in doors in the evening, then I was more then happy to do so.
