How old were you when you got married?

I totally disagree with you here. I am currently in college, as would be expected for my age. I'm a few semesters behind because I took a year out right out of high school- a divorce, both parent relocating, and now DH deploying to the Persian Gulf will do that to you.

I went to a top notch boarding school- needless to say, we are all in college. A LARGE percentage of the girls have diamonds on the finger, have purchased a wedding gown, or are tending that way quickly.

You can't lump people into a broad and over-reaching statement like that. Before I transferred to where I am now, nearly all the girls were married becuase it was a military town. Why? You're nothing in the eyes of the Department of Defense until that piece of paper says you're a wife. I found that group of young women, mothers, and wives to be far more mature than the girls I am presently in school with. There's a huge percentage of college students that are married- we just choose to live at home with our spouses and not participate in frat parties. Just becuase you don't see us doesn't mean we're not there. I think you'd be surprised how many of us there are.

I can totally relate here. I was certainly the first to get married out of my private high school, and it was due to man I loved enlisted in the military. Although he wasn't planning to go to school, I had just finished my freshman year at an out of state school, which I hated. I did finish my degree before dh ETS'ed, but I have to say I was in the minority among the wives I knew. The majority of them simply weren't interested in a college education.

However, I work in a professional environment now. I certainly stick out like a sore thumb. People don't even begin to thing about children until 30, and when I first meet someone, they are shocked that I have kids at all, let alone kids as "old" as mine are. The only people that I know at my office that got married before late 20's are Jewish Orthodox.

I had just turned 22 and DH just turned 23. We celebrate 8 years this year.

I was 27 and DH had just turned 25. Been married 5 years in June and had been together for just over 3 years before we got married.

Claire ;)

We were both 18 the first time around. Three daughters and 10 years later we divorced. We remarried 3 years later. That lasted 13 years. Then 5 years ago I married the man I am with now. They say the third timeis the charm - sometimes!
