we were early 50s for first contract.
Also wish we would have done it a lot earlier.....but we waited, paid cash for all 5 of our contracts and enjoy all our trips so much now.

More interesting may be how old will you be when your membership expires and what will you do about it? Or what will Disney do about it given how well the OKW extension worked (or didn't).

I will be 83 when my contracts expire. I don't think I'll care anymore.

I was 27 and DH was 25 (for our 1st contract SSR) DD was 16 months which was in 2011. Then in 2013 we figured out we needed (2nd still SSR) more so I was 28 and DH was 27 and DD was 3.

Our first tour was before DD was born tho.

I had just about to turn 50 when I joined. I wish I would have joined sooner, but I didn't know or care about "Disney's best kept secret" before then.

Bought in 2011- 27 at the time, have added on 3 times direct since.. Love every second of the membership.

We bought back in 1993, I was 27 dh was 29. WE underbought on our starter home, and had 2 cars paid off. Cost us a little over 11k for 200 pts. Looking back, maybe that was extravagant, but it seemed like a great way to make sure when we had children, we could always take them somewhere once a year.

I was 33, Mom was 68, when OKW opened. We purchased together. We started going to Disneyland (we lived in LA) in the early 1960s.

I was 50 last year when I bought into the DVC. Almost did it 6 years earlier at the AKL and backed out. Looking back, I wish I would have not backed out.

I was 37 and just had my son to make a total of 3 kids. Wish I would have bought more points. So had to add on two years later. Still wish I had more points:tongue:

40.

Maybe my midlife crisis :)

Some people buy corvettes... I bought Disney.

Course I'll be 90 when my contract expires...much more likely I'll be pushing up posies...

It was my 40th birthday gift in 1993. Our girls were little then. Now we're taking grandkiddos.

I was a month away from turning 20 last summer when I bought resale. I had been on my own for almost 6 months and was excited to get to explore the 'world' at my own pace and outside of values after 8 trips with my family and only stayed outside of the values once.

I was 18.

Worked two jobs through high school & bought as soon as I turned 18. I knew I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom one day so I figured I'd use my "single years" to pay off my future family's vacations so we'd have one less burden living on only one salary, but still be able to enjoy Disney. And if I never got married or had kids, it'd still be in a great place vacation wise. It worked! 11 years later, DVC is paid off & I'm a stay-at-home mom who still gets to enjoy Disney vacations. :)

No, this NOT the poster named "Granny". He's a guy. ;)

That's right...I really look more like this:

It was my 30th bday present from DH (who is now EX-DH). Well, at least I can say he did something right!

DW and I were both 24 when we bought our 160-point VGC contract in 2009. No kids, and the points can usually get us a couple of 4-night studio stays per year...depending on the season.
Honestly, I bought into DVC off a whim without realizing I was buying into such a small, sought after property.
