Indeed..... We have been together for almost 12 years.

Icy-Dog,
Although the replies to this post seem to indicate the majority of DVC owners art a tad younger then we are but we all are young at heart. I find that during our stays, in January and February, most of the guest are “graying” somewhat and that the pace is perhaps a half step slower than at the more popular times. We just love Disney, and even more so when the kids and grandkids can join us….can’t wait until our trip with all the family in November.

I was 24, and my husband 25... We bought DVC a little less than a year after our wedding, and about 3 months BEFORE we bought our house. (PRIORITIES, I tell you!)

We've been going to DisneyWorld together ever since we were both 17 years old... we knew it was right for us, as we've returned at least once or twice every year since 1995. Luckily we had the financial stability to buy at such a young age. I'm very glad to see other mid-20's folks out there in DVC as well. Starting off right! :)

We just did the same thing...we're having a house built and are supposed to be in sometime in July. When we found out that VWL was available direct through Disney, we figured we'd jump on the chance and bought right away.

I guess we are in the majority - we bought when we were 30. We would have bought much sooner than that but wanted to wait until we had the cash for the purchase. Then as it got closer, we wanted to wait for BCV location and SAB. We figured it was nice to walk to both EPCOT and MGM, as well as having access to SAB for the kids we would have some day. Baby #1 is on the way, so we'll see soon if the pool was worth the wait to the baby!

I'm mathmatically challenged, but shouldn't you be in jail???

icy-dog/Marylyn--

Glad to see you are on the boards. Hope you have as much fun as we do. We often read them as a couple. It's fun to find out everyone elses secret "magic".

I was very worried about whom to pass the membership on to, since none of our 5 kids has shown any interest in DVC or paying our high yearly dues, we own 1000 pts.

If this ever poses a real problem for you we have 4 children who absolutely love disney and would be more than willing to help you with your problem. LOL:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

BTW, OKW sounds like a wonderful place to spend January!:D

We bought when my dh and I were in our late 30's. The only fear was that our children might outgrow their love of WDW. It has been six years now and it is still the place they want to spend their vacations. It is a delight to have something that the whole family can enjoy together.

Tanya and I bought on our first trip to WDW together. We had just turned 25 and had been to Disney Land the year before. We knew that we would be going back every year so it just made since...

I bought when I was 21, right out of college, got my first stable well paying job...it was time! I'd been to WDW every year since I was really little and knew for quite some time that someday I wanted to own a piece of it, and now I do!!

I think this "poll" is scewed a lot. I don't think seasoned DVC members necessarily read or post to these boards. Many older members don't care one wit about computers or discussion forums. I have been a member for 12 years and I just found out about this forum a couple fo months ago. At 56 now, and 45 when I bought, I know there was a big percentage of people my age who were members. I am glad lots of younger couples enjoy DVC, and I would have joined earlier if it was available, but don't assume such a small percentage of older folks. When I stay at the resorts many, many members are like me, in their 50s or more. My DH is 71 now and we just purchased more points so we could book at BCV 12 months out. You cannot get enough of a good thing no matter what age.
Marylyn

We can never forget the date we mailed the papers.

We dropped them off in the fedex box on the way to the hospital.
I gave birth later that day to my 2nd daughter. I was 40, DH 43, DD 4, DS2 and DD less than one day.

I think we are looking at the subset of DVCers who feel comfortable using the internet. It did seem to me during our last visit that the typical DVCer is 40ish not 30ish.

I agree that this poll is just a look at DVC'ers that also post here on the DIS. It doesn't really tell us anything about DVC in general. I think when DVC first opened the average purchaser was probably 40+. It seemed like more grandparents than parents were purchasing. Of course, the high cost (at the time) for something that was unknown may have scared away young families. I know when I purchased I was in my early 30's and the guides looked at me as fairly unusual.
