How old was your son/daughter on their first visit?

We took DS pirate: when he was 18 months and he totally loved it. We are taking DD :tink: this June, and she will also be 18 months. That at least for us is a great age, because they can interact with characters and enjoy a lot of rides.

ps. I would not advise someone taking their 18 month old to WDW if they have never been either. Their is to much to take in, and it would be better IMO to wait until they get a little older

DS was 2, DNiece was 5, and my first trip was when I was an infant (to DL...11 to WDW). I would have taken them earlier if I wasn't in school full time. We went a couple weeks after I graduated from college.

Our kids were 3 &6 on our first trip.

They probably don't remember much, it was also the first trip for hubbie and me and we treasured the memories so it didn't matter that they were "too young to remember" as some relatives say..

My DD will be 5 days shy of 4 when we go. We're going to celebrate her 4th birthday, actually :).

My son was 9 and my daughter had just turned 5. :)

My daughters were 2 and 4, but the 2 year old was just three months shy of 3. It was perfect and both still talk about it on a daily basis. They will be 4 and 6 when we go back.

I was 11 when I first went and was hooked from the moment we stepped in the park!

My DD#1 was 20 months. The other two were much smaller when they went for their first trips--8 months and 6 months. Taking my daughter that young, was really fun. She just oohed and ahhed at everything. But it's been fun every time we've been back and the older the kids get, the more fun it is, IMO.
So I don't know that there's really a bad time to take your kids for the first time but I'd say older like 7-10 because they are old enough to really enjoy everything....of course that's just my opinion. However, I would have never been able to wait that long to take my kids!:rotfl:

First trip 2003 the boys were 8 1/2, 6 & 26 months.
Second trip 2009 we now have 4 boys...1st trip for the youngest who was 2 1/2.

Our first trip to DW was when my girls were 8, 5 and 2.5. We did use baby swap quite a bit since the DD2 couldn't go on everything and my DH and I split up a few times so we could spend more time at ToonTown or Fantasyland with her, but we had a great time. She LOVED the characters and I have a priceless picture of her hugging Cinderella. She has pure bliss on her face. Epcot was not as much fun with her, but we just put her in a stroller and kept her entertained so we could see the sights.

Really, any age is good, right?

Well, I'm not a parent, but I was 4 when I first went to WDW. I think that's the perfect age- the child is old enough to not worry about strollers, but they're still young enough to truly believe in the magic.

I was about 2 years old on my first trip.

DH was only 6 months old on his first.

Oldest DS was 6 years old. Middle DS was 3 years old. Youngest DS will be 18 months old on his first trip in less than two weeks.

Every age holds something magical on that first trip.

Oldest DD was 2.5 years and youngest DD was 9 months. Oldest still remembers things from that first visit. Youngest doesn't remember it, but I remember it all - and that in itself is magical!!! Seeing her smile and giggle when Mickey played peek-a-boo with her, and then her kissing him on the nose, I will never forget that!

My sons were 4 and 2 - that was two years ago. My daughter's first visit will be about 2 months before her second birthday. My sons had a great time and it was pure magic. The boys talk about it all the time - even the one who was 2 at the time talks about his favorite attractions and whenever he sees a plane he says, "Somebody's going to Disney World!"

My daughters were 5 and 7. Perfect ages for believing in the magic. :wizard:

My DS's were 8 and 10 at the time of their first visit. We all had a blast. Now 10 years later they still love to go! :cool2:

we celebrated DD3's 2nd birthday there (her first visit) and she talks about it all the time, even a year later!! every time we watch a Disney movie, she gets so excited to see the pic of the castle! and she does recognize Disney on their commercials!!
now I know she won't remember it when she's older but I love that she remembers it now and she had such a great time there! :goodvibes

My oldest 2 boys were 4 and 7 on their first trip to the world. My DH and myself were 35 and 32. It was our 1st trip too! :goodvibes When my youngest DS was born we waited to go back until he was 3 and the older two were then 8 and 11. They all still love to visit the World. :wizard:
