Ok, dd8 and I went shopping today. She has been asking to wear a bra- ALL her friends wear one etc. etc. N- O I told her- you are 8 years old (3rd grade) and do not need one. Well, my mother was with us today and we were trying on shirts. One shirt was a cute one that was more fitted and was a thinner shirt. My mother said she needed one when she wore thinner shirts b/c you can see her nipples. Well, I broke down and bought one of those 'sports' bras made for younger girls. I told her she could only wear it with shirts that you could see her nipples through. We tried it on once we got home and I don't like it- you can see the bra under the shirt (duh- I know). I'm thinking of just getting one of the camisole type under shirts instead. Anyway, I just seem to think 8 is young for a bra. Now, dd and I are built differently. I was thin as a rail and didn't wear a bra until our middle school required one in 5th grade- I didn't need it then. She is average size- 50% weight and height. She is not fat by any means, but is definitely larger built than I was. How old was your dd when she started wearing a bra??? Am I just freaking out over nothing?
