I have a few how old questions (by the way our trip is a suprise)..

How old should you use a stroller in the parks???

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 6 yo DS while in Disney???

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 12 yo DD while in Disney????

What is a good character breakfast for my kids (DD12, DS6)???

Should we use in room sitter or Neverland Club while staying at the polynesian (dd12 and ds6)????

Thanks

I'm definitely not an expert, but here are my suggestions...

How old should you use a stroller in the parks???I wouldn't use one after 3 1/2 years old. But my boys never liked them anyway.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 6 yo DS while in Disney???Forget bedtime! You're at Disney - stay until the park closes, the lines are very short then.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 12 yo DD while in Disney????Same as above.

What is a good character breakfast for my kids (DD12, DS6)???We've only done Chef Mickey's for breakfast. We really love it! The whole experience of riding the monorail to the Contemporary is very fun. We've had several different character dinners, but we stick with CM's for breakfast.

Should we use in room sitter or Neverland Club while staying at the polynesian (dd12 and ds6)????Never used a sitter. We like spending our nights in the parks with our boys. We have a TS dinner together early and take along the Nintendo DS for the boys. We all get a 2 hour (or so) break, then hit the parks again. Sorry I can't help with this question. BUT the Neverland Club sounds really fun!

HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!! :goodvibes

I think you should be ok without a stroller. My DD walked the parks at age 4 with no problem. As for the bed time, that's a matter of preference. Myself, make sure my kids are sleeping at least by 10 p.m. or earlier. It always amazes me to see kids still swimming at midnight. But then again, it is usually the same kids I see screaming at the parks the next day. But to each there own. I say if the kids are well rested, then everyone wins a great vacation!!

As for Breakfast. We love Chef Mickeys in the Contemporary!

Agree with the above! Who has bedtimes at Disney? Never used a stroller past 4 and Chef Mickey's is the only one we have done, aren't big on Character meals. You won't believe how freeing it is without having to deal with a stroller, you'll love it.

I agree with everything all have said , but I have a diff op on the stroller issue. I used a stroller when my DDs were 5. (not twins, diff trips at that age) They were small for their age and it was really nice for them to have a place to sit when they got tired, and to have a place to store our stuff. I would not dream of going without one if my kids were under 5!!!

Here's our experience.
We have used a stroller up until age 8 (this past Dec. trip) for our DD. She just gets too tired as we go commando all day long- which brings me to your next question:
We dont have bedtimes for our kids at WDW. We stay all day from open till close. Hence the great idea for the stroller. No one wants to carry DD after she sometimes falls asleep in the parks late at night, and no one wants to go back to the room early either. We just push her in the Volo all the way to the bus stops. Disney involves TONS of walking and while my DD hasnt used a stroller at home since she was 3 or 4, it is much nicer to have her in a happy frame of mind (from not having to be exhausted from walking) instead of throwing fits because she is so tired.
Our favorite Character Breakfast is O'hanas at the Poly. You will be staying right there so nice and convienent.
We've never left our kids with a sitter at WDW (although we have a 17 yr. old and wouldnt have to). I just dont trust people enough with our kids. I would rather have them with us all the time.
Have a GREAT time!!

Lot of different answers!!

Stroller- use until it is more trouble than worth it. i tried to talk my then 8 year old into a stroller at Epcot on night so we could keep going when he was tired. He refused. I would be open to renting one as needed for a 6 year old but I would not take one.

Bedtime- It depends on your family- At WDW we are early- at the gates before opening kind of people and then hit the sack early. Our BF's sleep late and then close the parks. As long as they get enough sleep, times do not matter so much.

Character meals- WE have never had a bad CM at WDW- WE like Donalds at AK, Cheif Mickey's a the Cont.,& Crystal Palace at MK,. We try to pick one that works with our plans for that day. We love an 8:00 ADR at a park that opens at 9:00. Finish just as the park opens!!!!

Lunches and dinner are nice too. We really like Liberty Tree Tavern at the MK for dinner and a lunch Cm is a nice mid-day break.

Last year my oldest was 4 and he had no problems with walking the entire trip. He only fell asleep once and that was while waiting at the bus stop after park closing the second night we were there.

Last year my kids were 4 and 1. We didn't have a bedtime for them. They did good with that.

We haven't done a character breakfast. We are planning on this September. Last year we did Chef Mickey's and the Liberty Tree both for dinners. Those were fun.

Have fun on your trip.

As far as a stroller goes...every kid is different...my 4 1/2 year old can do the zoo with no trouble, but I am concerned about her little legs at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot, so we will be taking her Maclaren JUST IN CASE! I'd rather have it than not to spare her and us in the event her legs get tired!!!

Bedtimes: we have always let our kids be our guides. When they run out of gas, we go back to the resort. No point in pushing it. But, we do not have a "bedtime".

Good luck!!! :thumbsup2

How old should you use a stroller in the parks???

My DD4 isn't nearly at no-stroller age. She gets overwhelmed by crowds, even at less-crowded times of the year, and the stroller saves her a lot of stress. Plus it carries water / change of clothes / leftover snacks. And that long slog back to the car at the end of a long day is easier for me with a stroller to lean on than it would be with a drowsing child in my arms.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 6 yo DS while in Disney???

Depends on his stamina. We have a "everyone who naps gets to come back for fireworks; anyone who doesn't nap gets an early bedtime" rule, but it's because the kids need a nap.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 12 yo DD while in Disney????

When everyone else goes to bed.

I have a few how old questions (by the way our trip is a suprise)..

How old should you use a stroller in the parks??? As long as you need, but personally I can't see it beyond 6.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 6 yo DS while in Disney??? Up to you again, but I would say 10 or 11 max, esp. if you get up early the next morning

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 12 yo DD while in Disney???? I'd be flexible.

What is a good character breakfast for my kids (DD12, DS6)???

Should we use in room sitter or Neverland Club while staying at the polynesian (dd12 and ds6)???? We wouldn't, but that's our family. I've heard great things about the Neverland Club.

Thanks

My kids as well as my neices and nephews didn't use a stroller at WDW past age 4 or 5 so I wouldn't plan on one for anyone over 5.
What is an acceptable bedtime for my 6 yo DS while in Disney???
Depends on the kid but mine were fine until 11 or 12 if they either slept late or took a nap. If they got tired earlier we called it a day.

What is an acceptable bedtime for my 12 yo DD while in Disney???? By this age my kids were usually putting me to bed. Not really but you know what I mean- by 11 or 12 my kids could go and go and go

What is a good character breakfast for my kids (DD12, DS6)??? We love CRT, Chef Mickeys, and Ohana. If we were only going to do one it would probably be CM now that DD is 11. We never do only one though, we plan more each trip. DH loves character meals. I suspect it's because he gets to sit down and eat.

I have never used it.

I would condition your kids with walking beginning about 6 weeks (at least) before your trip. Try to work up to a mile or 2. DD7 walks with me (almost a mile to school), and she didn't need a stroller (she was 6 at the time). We went back for a nap every day, and she took a nap most days! If we hadn't done that, she might have needed a stroller. I would have rented a stroller if needed (but I didn't tell her that). There isn't any reason for your DS6 being miserable. If he is tired, get a stroller or take a rest (either at the park or at the resort).

If he will nap in a stroller when tired, I think that you could stay until close. If not, he probably won't make it. Just read your child - if one child is unhappy, the whole family will not be having fun (least common denominator). At the very least, one adult could go back with your DS6 and rest (you may find that you want the rest, too - DH and I did!)

Again, just pay attention to your child. There just isn't any reason to be miserable just to see everything - you will be back! I would consider other factors - if it is short trip, a few late nights probably won't be bad. If you are going for a week, I would be more on top of the rest and paying attention to how much the kids need vs. how much sleep they are getting.

What is a good character breakfast for my kids (DD12, DS6)???
Chef Mickey's is a good place to see the "Fab 5". If you are just doing one meal, this is a good place. If you are doing two, I would ask who your children want to see (princesses, Pooh and friends, more Fab 5, etc.)

Should we use in room sitter or Neverland Club while staying at the polynesian (dd12 and ds6)????
I've never used either, but we would have used the kid's club at WL if our youngest was old enough (she was only 2). My guess is that the Neverland Club would have more entertainment, esp. for your DD12. I would consider cost, too.

Enjoy!

I've used a stroller for both my kids when they were 5 1/2. I rented one for my younger dd when she was 7. We go commando and it was August and hot so we got it. We haven't had one at home for ages, but Disney is not home.

Thanks alot..I think I may rent a park stroller and then mark it with bandana and such
My 12 year old will not have a bedtime (never does in Disney)
Since we will be renting a stoller my DS 6 will go to sleep when he crashes

I'm still not so sure about the kids clubs

Make it the most unique looking bandana you can find, CMs move strollers a lot esp during shows so you want soemthing that will stand out!

We had our stroller but it was blue like everyone elses so I was glad we had two rainbow ones and then we also had this fish thing that stood up on the front so it was easy to spot in the sea of strollers.

We did CMs for breakfast, loved it, CP for lunch, awesome food, Garden Grille in Epcot, good food too, great character interaction
