How old do you have to be to get married?

My 8yo DD just asked me this. This is my boy crazy one I said 30 but she didn't buy it. We settled for grown up and after college when you have a job.

There is a little girl in my son's Kindergarten class who told the Director of the Center that she had to sit next to Ian because "He is my boyfriend" And her mom says that he is all she talks about. Hmmm, so do I need to worry about a 4 and a half YO girl chasing after my darling boy? Hee hee hee

When my youngest was 4, he would actually talk about "when Sallie and me get married." Sallie also referred to him as her boyfriend. The two of them had known each other since birth and spent a lot of time with each other at preschool, church activities and big school things (older siblings at same school). But alas, before the preschool year was over, she decided that she wanted an older man -- one of her 10-year-old brother's friends.

Julesmom - it was Samantha the younger one. Kate isn't interested in boys at all. Samantha's been planning weddings since she was 3.
