How old are/were your kids when you bought into DVC? and question

These posts are so fun to read. My family Me 42, Dh 45, DD 15, and DS 12 have gone to Disney 10 times. I have been wondering about how old is too old to buy. Will we really keep going?(I have tried other vacations and am never really satisified like I am after a trip to Disney) This post is so timely and I am hoping my family will want to visit with me and hubby for years to come. I think this may have helped my decision to buy.
These boards are so helpful. Hopefully you all will be telling me "Welcome Home" in the near future.

When we bought DVC, our "kids" were 21 and 27! We bought it for US! We love Disney, and really enjoy taking friends and family along and offering them a free place to stay on property. It means we can always have friends and family of ALL ages enjoying the magic of Disney with us!

Our kids were 6 and 4 when we bought three years ago. Since we bought, we have done 4 trips to WDW, one to VB, one DCL cruise, one to DL in California, one to DL in Paris, and 3 Concierge collection trips. We plan to keep going to WDW once or twice a year, and one Concierge or other trade per year. This probably won't change much once the kids are grown.

We also debated this when we bought last year at BWV and our kids are 16 and 14. We hope to take many family vacations for years to come, however, reality is setting in - my 16 year old will be going on a spring trip with band next year and the following year to France with her language class. My 14 year old will bring a friend on next year's trip but it won't be the same without my older DD! We can already see the future holds fewer family vacations.

However, as a couple we do feel that Disney is a great way to escape a Minnesota winter - the restaurants, shows, shopping, etc. and oh, did I mention getting out of the winter in Minnesota! If for some reason we don't like it in a few years we will sell it but I don't forsee that happening. The Orlando area has many attractions that we have not seen. DVC also has other options that we hope to try - Vero Beach to see the Kennedy Center and Hilton Head to see South Carolina. We also look forward to trying the other on site properties.

Of course, we still want to see the rest of the world and will probably rent out points from time to time to pay for other trips. We love the flexibility of DVC and would be happy going just the two of us or with family and friends. If you can afford DVC and go to Disney often it would make sense with the size of your family - you have many years to enjoy it while they are still home!

We bought in 92. 410points.. Ds 16 Dd 14 Dd 13 at the time.Since 92 we have been at Disney every year. My kids (all grown up now)have and continue to use our points. We have had high school graduations and college graduations parties in Grand Villas at OKW and BWV. Many ,many vacations with neighbors, relatives and friends. The free tickets untill 2000 gave us the incentive to go as much as possible in the begining but we never got bored and all the new properties makes it still fun to go.We have stayed at all properies except for HH and BC( will be at BC in Oct.). Traded points for stays at Disneyland ,California and The Plaza in NYC. We never rent out points because we never have any left. It has turned out to be a great investment.

My children were grown. My daughter had justed turned 21 and I put her on the contract. My son was 17. We just got back from a great family vacation and both my children were with me. They are now 30 and 26. Disney never gets too old for us. We have traded to CA, NYC, Washington DC and have a trade in Oct to Williamsburg, VA. We have stayed at HH and now own at VB also. I added my son on when he turned 21. Now we all own a piece of the best place to go for a vacation. We all love that WELCOME HOME we get when we arrive. We are getting ready to plan our next years trips-who knows where we will go. I can assure you, one week will be to WDW!!!!

to America for 30Years, since my brothers moved there.
I have been to both coasts and to most major tourist sites.
Found Disney and Florida in 1990. Have gone every year since.
Bought at BWV in 1998 when my youngest ,Caoimhe was 7yo.
Boys were 15yo and 20yo.

We purchased in 2002 when Kids were 37, and 35.
Grand kids are now 16, 15, 13, 10, 5 and 5mo.

We love it with or without them, DW and I just got back from a 4 nighter just the two of us at the Boardwalk, 5th floor , 1 bedroom w/ Boardwalk view. Very Nice !

We bought Oct. 2003. Our kids are 25 and 29 and on their own. After 15+ trips from the time they were young we could kick ourselves for not buying sooner. We are taking family niece ,nephews and their parents week after Thanksgiving this year. We have a solo trip planned for April and a cruise in Nov 2005 with my son and his girlfriend followed by WDW and my daughter flying down with her boyfriend. We look forward to taking grandchildren some day too. Both our kids enjoy WDW so I'm sure they'll want to use our points also!!!!!!! Who knows maybe some day our great grandchildren will be able to go,of course we will probably be long gone by then!!!!!!!!

We were mid 40s with both girls in college when we bought into DVC. Should have bought sooner, but we had other expenses that were more important.

we bought last october, our son is 2 and i am due with #2 in september :)

we went to disney before he was born, and last november without him (anniversary trip), so we bought in for us, not the kids :teeth:

Our boys are 12, 10, 4. We just bought into DVC through resale last month. We have been to Disney 4 times in the last 2 years. We just love it, and decided we should take the plunge. We were there last Dec without kids, and had a great time with another couple. It doesn't matter how old you are, it is just a wonderful place to go and have fun!!:bounce:

When we bought our kids where in there early 30"s and on there own, we now spend several weeks during the winter at OKW. The kids visit about once a year with the grandchildren usually during the Xmas holidays. I figure that after we are gone the kids and the grandchildren will enjoy it as much as we have!!

We bought when we were in our mid 20s. We took 5 DVC trips before our DS came along and so far 1 with him.
It just gets better and better.
One of our best purchases ever.

Our son is 15 1/2 and still loves to go to WDW! We purchased a contract in March and our second contract is in the ROFR process right now. Our only regret is that we didn't buy into DVC when we first talked about -- close to 9 years ago. Since then, we've been to WDW almost every year! We can't imagine ever not wanting to vacation at WDW or using our points for some of the other collections.

We currently have no children (in our 20s) but wanted to do this now while we figured a way to budget it and could more than afford to do it :)

My two DS were 2 and 7 when we bought in '02. I plan on using HH and
VB if and when the novelty wares off. I don't think that will happen though.

Good Luck.

Our DS was 10 when we bought in '94. He's gone with us every time that we went .... That is until NEXT time! He'll be in college (Go BLUE! University of Michigan) while we go home!

We just bought into thr dvc last month at ssr. Our girls are 2 and 6 mths. My 2 year ols is already addicted to mickey! We are in oue early 20's and was planning on a wdw trip when we found the dvc website. It is just what we needed...... We are originally from Fl (and plan to go back there) but right now we are overseas with the army. DVC gives us a "home" at home and an excuse to go to disney everyyear!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

We were in our early 30's when we bought in 1992. Our DD was 5 then. Now our DD is 17, DS is 9. They have made every trip so far, all 15-20 I think. You can do the math to see how old (?) we are now !!!
