How old are the CM's who play Tink?

I'm assuming they can be any age over 18, but I think a lot of them are part of the Disney College Program, so about traditional college age (18-24).

Do you mind if I ask why?
Absolutely NOT. Working with characters is a prime job that pays very well and takes a lot of training, College Program students NEVER work in characters unless they've totally revamped the program since I did it.

Although as some said above, Tink chooses her friends based on their resemblance to her, most of her friends seem to be in their early to mid 20s.

I did the college program back in Spring 2006, and they did allow CPs to be "friends" of characters. My next door neighbor was "friends" with Goofy. Most of the CPs who are "friends" with characters are not in the parades, however I did know a CP who was in Spectro Magic. The CPs who did work entertainment received about 50 cents more an hour than regular CPs. Of course it may have changed in the past 4 years since I have been there. There was many CPs who were characters, but there were.

Haha - yes then they have. They have been taking CPs as Character Performers for several years now. If you visit the college board you can find out all sorts of information about the audition process, those who hang out with our face friends, etc. I was a CP performer in Fall 2008 and am still with the company.

Sorry to have misled. When I did the CP the only options were hospitality (and that was only if you were studying tourism or hotel management or something like that), custodial, attractions, merchandise, or food & bev. We actually spent a great deal of time at my orientation talking about why CP folks couldn't work characters and how one could go about working with characters (answer: keep working for Disney after finishing the CP--I did have a CP friend who did that and he was a friend of Tigger and Goofy and someone else, including in the parades).

1) Characters start at $8.50/hr, and an d extra $1/hr for face characters.
2) CP's can be costumed characters and face characters.
3) For both, there is minimal training, not a lot of training.

This is interesting & a good tidbit to know. I could see my DD wanting to be friends with the characters...although even though she is tiny, apparently not tiny enough to be friends with the faries. YIKES...her friends already try to force feed her at school since they are convinced she never eats (they've never seen her eat at home, I'm not worried! :lmao: ).

starting wage for a friend is $9/hr as of 10/4. the union has contractual annual raises. $8.50 was from a couple of years ago.

the actual minimum age for a friend at WDW is 16 as per disneyauditions.com

It's 18+ for all jobs at Disney including Character Performer.

And College Program kids probably make 75% of all the characters.I don't know of a single CP or CS kid that hasn't already auditioned or is going to audition. As matter of dact I have my audition next year.

that's fine, I was just saying someone should alert casting.

Tinks "friend" must meet certain guidelines as far as height, weight, and looks.

Age is not a factor other than over 18. If Tinks "friend" meets the guidelines and is 30, its OK.

I'd kill to be 30 and still look like that... LOL, I'm 29 and I feel like I could pass for Tink's mother!!

Is this the same "friend" who flies during Wishes or are they two separate "friends"??

Two Separate friends. The friend that flies during Wishes can be male or female and only flies once a week I believe. They get paid a lot of money because of hazard pay so thats all they need really.

I'm 5 foot tall, 28 and do not look a day over 21. However Id have to lose a good 30lbs to even come close!

The person who said tink has to be be 90lbs is probably confused. That's the tink that flies at night... and they're highly paid for that flight. I think it's the only thing they do for the company. And each night they must be weighed, too light and she won't fly, too heavy and she'll sag the line and get stuck.

The meet and greet Tink, they must be able to fit into the costumes comfortable, and they'll fit them for it before approval, there is no weight restriction. I've seen some chunky princesses and some skinny ones before. It just all depends...

I'm afraid I have to correct this - it is 16. 18 is the age minimum for College Program or Career Start programs.

It's actually about 10%.

Wait a sec are you sure? On the Disney website it said 18 on all the jobs when I looked to apply. :confused3

And as far as 10% that could be true I went with 75% because I know of quite a lot of CP's that got the Character Performer.

Entertainment is huge...
There's probably more like 70% CP's for meet and greets. But roles like shows/parades only 10% of CP's.

I worked with several CP's in the meet and greets, and knew of several more that auditioned for it as a CP. I've only known of a few CP's to get roles in parades. Of course seniority has a lot to do with it too.
