How often does your guest room get used for it's intended purpose?

  • Quite often. We always seem to have people visiting; I don't know what I'd do without it!

  • Occasionally. It usually goes unused, but we definitely like having it for when people do come over.

  • Never. We have one just "because", but we never have overnight visitors.

  • We don't have a guest room. We've turned any extra bedrooms into rooms with a more useful function.

  • Other... please explain.

The only people that use this room is our kids, otherwise its a catchall for all our crap. Okay...all of MY crap.

I chose other. We do not have any extra bedrooms for guests or any other purposes.

Guest room was a MUST for us - it's used quite often and I love having the space to offer. My only added wish was to have a designated guest bath. When we have kids, they will have to share the bath with the guest. Oh well.

We went with a 4 bedroom just to have a guest bedroom even after we have 2 children. I have a gameroom that I can set up crafts or scrapbooking in and I spend enough time in the office at work and don't want one at home =)

I can see where it'd be a total waste of space for some people, though. We have lots of family/friends out of town.

We only get guests a few times per year. But when we do we get many guests. We have a 4 bedroom home and 3 rooms are for guests. They also have other uses.

4 bedrooms - 3 kids - no more guest room :)

Through the years when we did have a spare room - it did get used at least once a month :)

I let guests sleep in my room. I'm a sucker. My husband and I sleep on the sofa (sectional) in the living room when my parents (both mom and dad) come to stay. When it's just my mom, she sleeps in my daughter's room with her, my daughter sleeps on her little blow up princess bed thingy. Same thing with MIL.

We have 5 bedrooms, all with a purpose. One for each of the kids, one for us and my husband and I each have our own office because we both work at home. He would probably be dead by now if I had to spend all day long with him. :)

Pretty frequently, Dh snores and I'm a light sleeper.

I'd love to have a guest room, but we have a family of four in a three bedroom house. We looked at some 4 bedrooms, but none of them "fit" as well as the three bedroom did.

We have guests about 10 days a year. If it's my sister, one of the boys gives up his room, if it's my parents, we do. When dh's family comes there are a lot of people so we fit in wherever. We have a futon in the family room and some inflatable beds, so we always find a way.

I enjoy having a house where we use every square foot of it every day. I figure soon enough there will be empty rooms and I'll be missing these days!
