The Grand Californian is booked for the dates that we need. I am stressed about waitlist having to never do it before. Does anyone know how often the waitlist actually comes through?

If anybody knew the answer they should be playing lotto and not waste their time posting on the internet. :goodvibes

You need to be first on the list for your dates, (all of them), and someone has to cancel their reservation for the same dates. In addition you are expecting that a MS CM makes the match which according to other posts, doesn't always happen.

I've never had one come through in maybe 10 tries. Some of them were fairly "easy" too in that they were consecutive days with no breaks between them.

Many others here report "always" getting them to come through. You couldn't prove it by me. Don't get me wrong, I believe them but often wonder why so many have such different results.

I still do them. I have two outstanding right now but my bet would be that neither comes through, at least according to my past results.

You never know. The VGC is a little more stressful because it is so small and don't have another DVC resort in which to reserve as a backup. When are you planning to go?

Do you think that the online reservation tool can make WL easier to get? People now can look at resort availability in a few seconds and so if one is flexible on dates can switch more easily resort at 7 month, cancelling a reservation made at 11 months for a WL.

I recently had a successful wait list come through for GCV. I then had to waitlist for a standard studio at Aulani and it just came through a week or so ago. Be patient but always be prepared with another option.

Here's some pixie dust for you...pixiedust:pixiedust:

We are going October 13-22nd. We usually go to WDW and have never had a problem getting our home resort but this one is stressing me out :surfweb:

We have always had our waitlist come through. We have never done VGC or a whole week though. Usually we have a week at OKW and decide to do the last 2 nights somewhere else. We do a waitlist and usually be the 30 day mark it comes through.

Just a few weeks ago I booked 6 nights at OKW (or tried) Nights 1, 2, 4 and 5 were available. I think this was about 5 weeks from check in. In less 3 days, we got nights 3 and 6. All in a 1 bdrm. We weren't so worried about night 6 because we figured we could get a room anywhere for the last night but I was worrried about night 3. Didn't want to have to move in and out that much for a 6 night stay.

We've always had our come through, but I've also always gone on the wait list pretty early.

We've been on the waitlist twice and neither came through.

Every wait list is different and there is simply no good rule of thumb. In general:

Shorter trips are much easier to get than longer trips. Much better chance of getting 2 nights than a week or more.

Easier to get larger resorts and views than smaller ones.

For the best chance of success, you need to be on the WL right at 7 months. At 6 or 5 months...or less...there could be dozens of people ahead of you on the WL. A dozen people could cancel but if you are 20th on the WL, you'll still never get it.

There are a lot of decent hotels within walking distance of Disneyland. If you really want to go on your selected dates, make a backup reservation elsewhere. Good luck!

its hit or miss and it depends on the resort you are waiting for, the time of year, and the duration of the stay. Dont get your hopes up but instead be happy with the reservation you have so that if the wait list does come through it will be a pleasant surprise!!

I'm new to DVC. Can you be on a waitlist for a couple different resorts? I made a reservation at my home resort but I would really like to stay elsewhere. Do I get on a waitlist then cancel my original one if it goes through? We're staying one night before our cruise on Dec 27. Chances are slim, right? LOL!

You can be on up to two active waitlists per UY.

We're also waitlisted at VGC in October, and based on what I've read, I'm not holding my breath. Kids' fall break is one week, so our dates aren't flexible, but where we go is up for grabs. We have always driven to Orlando in the past, but were hoping to try out Cars Land.

I booked the VGC waitlist at the exact day of my 7 month window. I also booked BWV for the same week. I'm giving the waitlist three months, but past that point I'm not willing to gamble on flight availability (DL is too far for us to drive). So by June, we'll either be buying plane tickets, or canceling our waitlist and start planning our trip to BWV - another place we haven't yet stayed. Ultimately, I'd love to do DL, but as long as we've got a ressie somewhere, it's all good. :-)

I had one waitlist for GCV for a February trip and it went through...so I have to say just maybe wait nice and patiently

I did a waitlist for one night the week prior to when you want to go. I could book the rest of our stay at the 7 month mark. It came thru last week. I think your major obstacle like another poster stated is when you wait list multiple days you need to wait for someone to cancel all those days. Followed by the fact you are looking at Columbus Day time frame. If you are set on Disneyland. You could wait a little while and then book one of the hotels on site. Best of luck.
