How often does Delta change flight times or cancel flights?

In particular - from BDL - MCO?

I really wanted to book SWA, but ended up booking Delta because they were cheaper at the time.

BUT I can now get SWA for a good price, and since we fly SWA somewhat fequently, and I know I'll be able to use and credits I get, I'm thinking of also booking SWA flights. Then, if Delta changed my flight or wanted to put me on a different one, I would just ask them to refund and I would have my preferred SWA flights. If they didn't change the flights, I could cancel the SWA and apply to a future trip.

So what's your experience with Delta?
Any way to guess if they will change or cancel a flight based on current availability?

We use Delta out of Bradley every trip. We love their first non-stop to Orlando in the morning and their last non-stop back at night. We have never had a flight cancelled. Depending on how far out you book, the flight times may change. Ours have changed a few times but by a total of 10 mins. each way. When I booked our flights last Sept for our Aug. trip we were able to get round trip for $179 with all fees/taxes and even with adding in the luggage fees each way I haven't been able to find a SW or Jetblue fare lower (also didn't like some of their non-stop flight times). The biggest thing if you use Delta is to just keep checking the flights once a week because depending on how far out you book, the type of plane may change which could have the computer change your seating.

I also fly Delta Bradley to MCO.never had a problem !

But more to your point.ALLL AIRLINES........now seem to change flights and times very often......that includes SWA (which I have used to other destinations without a problem). We as passingers let them get away with it becuase they keep crying they are lossing money, yet most Airlines are making good money now.....

just IMO

Not the same airports as you but our Delta flight has changed 8 -9 times since I booked it and most of them have been changes of more than an hour. Now I did book as soon as the dates were released so I knew going in that this would probably happen. Couldn't pass up the price though.

Thanks for the replies

Thanks especially for this! Since I usually fly SWA, I don't think about assigned seating. I will keep checking.

We fly Delta out of Bradley too! We love the non-stop flight. We've rarely had a time change, and if so only 10-15 minute difference. Like one of the PP said we have had the type of aircraft changed before, which caused a change in our seats.

We have had 5 itinerary changes so far! We are flying to Calgary on Delta in September with one connection in Minneapolis. We booked our tickets back in December '10 for September '11 so that probably explains some of this but we have had five itinerary changes so far and expect at least two more! These have been airline changes for us (Compass Airline) and 5 minute time changes but each has necessitated seat changes!
