sweep, mop, clean bathrooms and so on?

I confess I am domestically challenged, but I am trying to do better. This week I started making a list of chores that need to be completed that day - I don't always finish my list - it took three days to actually sweep and mop the living room. But, my house looks so much better!

So what does your cleaning schedule look like?

This is like the third thread lately that used these words: "sweep, mop, clean." What are these words?   what do they mean? :confused3

Ok, I work for a Housekeeping contractor at a timeshare. But my house isn't crazy immaculate.

But I vaccum a few times a week, I have 2 dogs. I dust once a week, sweep and mop the bathrooms and kitchen floor once a week. I do deep cleaning twice a year, clean the blinds, etc.

Do I like to clean, nope. I would rather be snorkeling somewhere, but it has to get done. I try to do the cleaning after I get off work my last day of work for the week, because I don't like to do stuff like that on my days off.
I also get DD11 to help clean, so she usually does the kitchen floor while I do the bathrooms and she has her room and livng room to clean.

Now laundry, I will wash and dry all day long, but I hate putting that stuff away, so DD helps on that as well.

I am also domestically challenged (DH does most of it, has for a couple of years), but since I went to working only 3 days per week, I've been trying to do better. I had a good routine a couple of years ago that worked well for me. I loosely based it from flylady.net.
I don't remember exactly what it was, but I focused on one room each day of the week (M-F only, lol), did laundry two days a week, etc. I do remember that I cleaned the bathrooms on Friday and ran the sweeper/mopped on Monday.

I found that if I broke it down, I was able to do more. Good luck, it's not easy if it doesn't come by nature to you!

If I'm fostering cats and kittens I vaccum 2-3 times a week. If I don't have any fosters I only vaccum once a week. My kitchen floor doesn't get dirty too often so I usually only mop once a week. I clean the bathroom at least 3 times a week.

As another poster suggested, doing 1 room a day at first.

I also suggest, getting products that really work, let the product work for you. I usually alternate between Comet with bleach and then Tilex soap scum every other week to help prevent buildup of soap scum and mildew. Soak the bathroom down let stuff set for 10 minutes, run hot water and let steam help.
While waiting for bathroom to disinfect, dust . I set a timer in the kitchen to let me know when the 10 minutes are up.

You don't like to sweep, think about getting a little canister vaccum with a attachment and use that to suck up the stuff on the floor.

You just need to find the thing that works for you.

Since the kids are grown and gone the house doesn't get dirty as fast, so I really have no set schedule for cleaning anymore. I just do it when it needs it. Maybe the toilets only need cleaning once a week, or some weeks they need to be done 2-3 times. If mud gets tracked in I vacuum more often. I do laundry when the basket gets full.

When the kids were little I tried to stick to more of a schedule. I did most of the cleaning on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Bolding mine.

That is what just doesn't click in my brain. :scared1: Would that it did. :(
I need to have a schedule.

Toilets and shower (with leave on spray) daily
The kitchen, When things get ahesive, overflow or I need to cook (dishes need doing, im out of bowls)
Living room gets tidyed weekly
Extra bedroom....... NEVER!!!
Bedroom....honestly, mabey once a month

We vacuum about twice a week, and once a week I dust every piece of furniture, wash every floor (on hands and knees), wipe down countertops well and Windex appliances, clean bathroom, and wash bathroom towels (yes, we are one of those families who only washes towels once a week) and bedsheets (yep, those too).

We live in a one bedroom apartment with one bath, and it takes me two hours a week to keep this place immaculate. I don't know how those with houses do it!

I sweep at least twice a day (to get crumbs up after lunch and dinner--once I have the broom out I go ahead and get at least that whole level and probably one a day the whole house); doesn't take long.

I do a quick mop of entry and kitchen every day or two as needed (white tile floors:headache:) and the whole house about once a week plus scrubbing kitchen and entry and the dining room area about once a week on hands and knees to really get it clean.

Bathrooms usually twice a week (but towels only get washed once a week)

Washing dishes--daily. Generally after every meal.

Being in cleanliness obcessed Germany I have the messiest/dirtiest house in the nighborhood:lmao: but really it is pretty clean. I find it is so much easier to keep up with things if I never really let them go. I also like to go bare foot and like the floors to feel clean underfoot.

Well, now I'm ashamed. I try to mop, vacuum, dust and scrub toilets once per week. I often don't meet that goal. I'm worst about mopping because, I swear, every time I mop the floor someone spills a whole pitcher of kool-aid or spagetti sauce.

I do ongoing cleaning in the bathrooms and kitchen. The other stuff-meh! I'm challenged as well.

I have a schedule of what cleaning I do each day. Each day 1 or 2 rooms get a good clean but because we have cats and wooden floors downstairs the downstairs floors I sweep every day. Now I have a schedule I spend maybe 30 minutes a day cleaning but this keeps me on top of things. 2 times a year I will do a deep clean, wash all the skirting boards, shampoo the carpets etc.

sweep & mop in kitchen = every other day because we have white linoleum that gets filthy if I'm not on top of it, (we're covering the floors next month, either in a laminate or a sturdy brown vinyl that hides dirt, hallelujah!)

clean bathrooms/kitchen counters & appliances/dust = once a week

pick-up toys and make beds, load and unload dishwasher = everyday

my husband does the laundry every weekend

I just try to keep the house at a level that, if someone came over, I would be okay letting them in the door! I'm not looking for perfection. :)
