how often do you wash your bedsheets/bath towels?

Sorry, but I am one of the one time use for towels and weekly sheet washing group, although it seems like the minority. I was not always like this, can't remember when I changed or even why, its not because I don't have plenty of both, I guess you could say I have a sheet fetish, I love lots of sets in various prints so I never sleep on the same ones over and over. I will admit, I am a little more lenient on my pool towels, I will reuse mine for a day or two before they make it to the washer.

We always use each two towels per day and only use them once. Sheets depends on the time of the year. When its freezing cold once a week and in the summer twice a week.

Reading how may of you wash less I understand why I have such a hight water bill. :lmao:

This is so interesting to me!

I do not sweat when I sleep...neither does DH...he actually keeps it so cold at night that I sometimes sleep in a sweatshirt. I ALWAYS sleep in long sleeves.

scdak-No, I think you are NOT in the minority!

I change the sheets once a week and use towels 2-3 times - everything is washed once a week.

I used to clean house for a family that I swear only changed the sheets or changed out the towels about once a month, (sometimes longer!) and frankly it stunk to high heaven to me - but I'm sure they were used to it.

I do not think you are doing it wrong for you. Everyone needs to do what they feel comfortable with LOL

My one sister changes her sheets 1 time a month and her kids are 15 and 20 and she said she has no idea if they even have sheets on thier bed LOL.She is not married and has a cat that sleeps with her

My other sister says she changes them when they look or smell dirty ( ICK) Her kids are 7 and 9 and she changes them every 2 weeks . She is not married and has a big dog that sleeps with her .( she says she wont marry her BF because he gets traded and she doesnt want to keep moving the kids . I think it is cause she wont change her sheets till they stink LOLOLOLOL)

Me I am a FREAK I have OCD and I have it some what under control with Medication . So have mercy on me ok .... I change my sheets every 3 days and I only sleep on white so I can see if there is anything on them . Our cat likes to sneak up on the bed and I do not want her hair on me . Our Rottie likes to sleep with us and I change them the morning after he sleeps on the bed . If he sleeps with us 3 nights I change them 3 times.

I only have white towels for the same reason :rolleyes1 I do use them 2 times and then into the washer they go .

Ok go ahead discuss LOL  It is ok to laugh a little at me because my family does

Towels once a week, sheets about every 3 weeks. Central air so no sweating and I actuall shower at night so I'm clean getting into bed.

Honestly, towels after one use (uh, you're clean) and sheets weekly sound like a waste of water and energy to me.

I wash sheets once a week. Towels get used 2-3 times before washing and after they are used they get hung up to dry out BEFORE being put in the hamper. I go psycho when I find damp clothes in my hamper :scared1:

I wash the sheets around once a week, but the pillowcases twice a week. Dh and I both seem to suffer hot flashes during the night and the pillowcases would be nasty if I didn't wash them. I even put two pillowcases on each pillow.

I wash my towels around twice a week.

I wash my towels about every week and our sheets the same. Let me say that I just change the bed in my bedroom and I actually wash sheets every two weeks or so. I would not do them so often but we have allergy issues and it really helps. If we didn't have the allergy issue, I'd be doing it every 3 or 4 weeks because I'm trying to be a environmentally sound as possible. We do have on demand hot water so we're not wasting that way and I hang all our clothes to dry but not the sheets and towels-they go in the dryer.

It's not the towels that are the problem, it's the washcloths. We don't have enough of them.

I do all the laundry since Wifey went back to work. She cleans and I do laundry.

When we first got married, I wondered if she used a washcloth. She said she just uses mine left hanging in the shower. I mentioned what areas were washed last for the previous person and what areas are usually washed first and she never did that again, LOL.

My kids will use 4 washcloths each per day just to wipe food gunk off their faces. There is always a pile of washcloths laying on the sink.

That said, they will also use 7-8 glasses per day just to get a drink of water. I can't break them of that habit, I'm not going to break them of a new washcloth just to wash their faces after breakfast, lunch, and dinner either.

Towels and washcloths need washed about every 2-3 days. We do drink our well water straight from the ground, but towels will get pretty stinky if you were to hang them to dry after use. We don't have AC, so the house gets pretty dang humid.

Most people I know do their sheets every week and their towels every day.

We each have out own towels that are hung up to dry. They must dry or they get mildewy. They are washed every 3-4 days. The sheets every 7-10 days. I try for 7 but might have to skip a day here and there.

DH and I are morning showers but do shower twice if we did something to get dirty or sweaty.

IMHO sheets would be too gross to use at a month.

There are 4 of us in the family. I am the only one who uses 2 towels each day (one for my body, one for my hair) LOL

I don't mind if I reuse the towel the next day but DH says it's absolutely GROSS!!! Um HELLOOOO....you're clean once you get out of the shower buddy!!!! So needless to say, they all get washed after one use.

BUT he will hang his pool towel on the line and use that for 2-3 days :confused3 WHATEVER!!!

Sheets? Depends on what mood I'm in. LOL There was a time when it was every 3-4 weeks. Then it was every weekend. Then I started slacking a bit and it got to be every other weekend. And that's where I'm at right now.....about every other weekend. Speaking of which, I need to go wash them this morning!! :laundy:

I somewhat agree with you about the towels after one use because you're supposed to be clean. But some people get skivved out about the fact that they're sloughing off skin cells into that towel at the same time they're drying off. The rest of my immediate family changes their towels once a week because they're practicing a habit we were raised with that came from parents whose families didn't have automatic washing machines until the 60's.

My theory is that all these people who, right now, have to have their towels and clothes washed after only one use would likely change their behavior if they had to spend time hand-washing all those clothes on a scrub-board and hanging them on lines to dry. It wasn't until I met my DH that I started changing out the towels after every 2nd or 3rd use because that was HIS habit.

Sheets, however....those I'm pretty picky about. As I said before, they typically get changed once a week, more often in hot weather when we're sweating more or (I'll be as delicate as possible here) after we've been intimate. Ladies may likely understand this feeling because men don't seem to be bothered by what they sleep on night after night.

I wash sheets every Saturday. Every other week I wash mattress pads, comforters & blankets as well. We have 2 dogs & 3 cats that sleep on the beds = a lot of hair.

Towels are used 3-4 times and washed.

I use towels 3 or 4 days before tossing them in the wash.

I try to change the sheets every 2 or 3 weeks. I am a night-time shower person, so I go to bed clean and don't really need to clean the sheets mroe often than that, IMHO.

I do this too. I have long (halfway down my back) fine hair. I can not get dry if my hair is hanging down my back and I can not use thick, heavy towels on my head. I have really old, smaller (but not has small has hand towels) that I use for my hair.

I don't mind if I reuse the towel the next day but DH says it's absolutely GROSS!!! Um HELLOOOO....you're clean once you get out of the shower buddy!!!! So needless to say, they all get washed after one use.

I have to because I am almost always sweating a little after my shower (even though I turn the house temp down before getting in) and I use my towel to dry it off. So then my towel has sweat on it. So for me to re-use it before washing is gross.

Towels - Mondays and Thursdays
Sheets - every two weeks in the summer, monthly in the winter.
