How Often Do You Read The Bible

I'm Catholic, but I'm not very religious. I used to go to church when I was younger, but not anymore. I also never read the Bible.

Snoopy, my mom was a believer and when she died 7 years ago, she had such peace in knowing that she was saved and was going to be with Jesus. I wanted that for myself, and started going to church and really hearing the Word of God. I found out about His amazing grace and His love for me. I gave my life to Christ 2 months after my mom died. Best thing I have EVER done. DH was brought up Catholic, and thought I was going crazy, but when he saw the changes that Jesus brought about in me and my life, he started listening to what I, and other believers had to say, and he gave his life to Christ as well. I know that nothing but the love of Jesus could have gotten me through my mom's death.

I read mine every day-first thing each morning. I'm Southern Baptist-we all have our own copy & are encouraged to read & study it. We have numerous opportunities each week to participate in organized Bible study at our church.

It's easy to become a Christian. 1) Admit you're a sinner & can't save yourself 2) Understand that Jesus is the ultimate & final sacrifice for the sins of every person 3) Accept God's free gift of salvation through Jesus

Living the Christian life & growing spiritually, however, is a lifelong journey. Consistent Bible study is an important part of that.

I try to read the bible every day. Don't always manage it like I should though so I fall between the everyday catagory and the once a week one.

Snoopy, I think that often times people's strong faith in God is born in adversity. When things get too hard for us to handle by ourselves we turn to God for strength and develop a faith in God when He works things out for us.

I totally agree. I know that is when I turned my life completely over to him! I finally figured out that if I put my life in his hands I had nothing to worry about. And you know what, I didn't. I have a long way to go, but I know I hope to be what he wants me to be and by doing that the lord and i both work on getting me to that point every day.

Not as often as I should, however; I did hear it a lot last year by going to a daily Mass. I'm thinking about getting the Bible on CD.

I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and I read the bible almost every day. Our meetings are almost entirely bible education, everyone has their own bible.

P.S. I was raised Catholic and don't remember ever reading from the bible directly. They had a book called a "catechism" (sp?) that they taught their doctrines from.

I never read it. I do believe God a higher power is looking down on me, he or is God a she gets me through each day

Let's just say that I don't make a habit of doing it, and when I do, it's generally for research purposes.

Same here. I am not religious but I do read it once in a while, as I know a lot of history, art and literature is derivitive from it.

I voted for a couple of times a month. I really wish it was more, I have been really slacking. I used to read the Bible everday, and I need to get back on track.

I went to Catholic school for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade, and I attended Catholic church from birth until 5th grade (then we switched religions because the Catholic church decided to turn its back on us when we really needed it. Now I look back and that was the greatest thing God ever did for my family). I always noticed how the Bible was paraded around as a sacred book that only the chosen few could touch or read from in the Catholic church. I look back now and realize how very sad that is.

Also, I wouldn't be doing the Lord's work if I didn't mention that good works will not earn your way into heaven. The only way to the Father is through the Son.

I read a passage every night before I go to sleep. I started doing this when my life started to spiral back in 2001. It gives me peace, a peace I never needed when I was younger.

BTW I never picked a bible up until I was in my 30s. Now I live by it. A friend of mine told me once that my life would change if I read one Proverb a day. He was so right.
