I am wondering how often everyone purchases new clothing? Do you think you buy too much, too little, how often do you shop for clothes????????????
What does your significant other think? Please share with us all what your experiences are. :goodvibes

Myself.....I am in the desperate category. I hate shopping for clothes, it is an ordeal everytime I have to go. I wish I liked it more!

Usually once a month or so, I'll purchase something--either online or at the mall or the consignment shop. I usually buy stuff that's on sale.

DH could care less. He knows I'm very thrifty and would never spend money we didn't have. :thumbsup2

I put monthly but really I almost never buy NEW clothes. I shop at thrift stores. So I can get a HUGE bag of clothes for like $20, then when it's time to clean out the closets, I don't feel bad for getting rid of stuff because it didn't cost me that much to begin with. And then I get to go shopping all over again!! :cool1:

DH doesn't give a hoot.

It just depends it goes in spurts, I just got off a big roll where i was buying weekly , but it was because i had lost 25 lbs. Also hit the shoes hard in the last month or so. Im done for now and prob will hit the end of summer sales for Disney trip in Sept and then ill have to start over again for Fall. I need some more shorts, but afraid to buy anything else cuz im hitting the gym pretty hard!

Wish me luck on hitting size 6!

Hubby is ok with it, but i do know when to stop before his head blows off ; )

I buy when I see something I like and its on sale. This way I never get to the desperate phase.

I pick up something every month, but usually do a big shop in the spring and fall.

I usually shop for myself once a season. Occasionally, I will have an additional shopping spree if I see something that I really like in the window.

I'm not that wild about shopping for myself, but I LOVE shopping for my kids. So, I do a lot of shopping for them instead.

Only when I'm desperate. I hate clothes shopping! The only thing worse than shopping for myself is trying to shop with my family - dh and two boys, 13 and 15. Torture!

Every once in awhile.

Right now I have on a Ghina Shirt, flaired Sasson Jeans & Earth Shoes!

It really depends. I lost a lot of weight last year, but for the longest time I didn't buy anything new. I bought new clothes when I could stand there and pull down my pants without unbuttoning them. My girlfriend said she sometimes did the same thing.

Towards the end of summer I bought quite a few new things as I needed them and we were going on a trip for our anniversary.

Then I got pregnant. I didn't need to buy maternity clothes for awhile because I had the bigger sizes to wear from when I lost weight. Also my SIL gave me a bunch of stuff. So, I just buy maternity stuff as I need it.

I'm interested to see where I end up after the baby comes as for size/weight.

I hate clothes shopping. I never buy anything for myself unless its desperate. I just got a shirt and wore it to the Yachtsman Steakhouse for our anniv. dinner. Worse is shopping for the 3 teen ds. They actually wanted me to buy them shoes too. That is where I draw the line, clothes only etc. I actually was looking at my summer wardrobe. Its adequate for my needs so far. Some people would think its not stylish enough but I dont care.

I do a big shopping spree in the USA every summer. I bring back about 10-12 everyday outfits, find mostly on sale. I usually buy 2 Lands Ends swimsuits, a couple of dressy outfits, dresses or pants, undies, socks, etc. and about 3 pair of sandals. Clothes are pretty expensive here, so I just buy what I need to get by, usually another dress for a certain occasion. I wear clothes for years and years :rolleyes1 so I have to make myself give away some to make room for the new. People probably get tired of my same 10 shirts, but I don't really care!

I don't hate shopping, but I do hate spending money!

Katy

Nearly never. I HATE shopping for myself.... can never find clothes that fit properly, are the right colors for me, are decent quality, and are decently priced.

I recently went shopping for new jeans.. tried on like 15 different pair and couldn't find one pair that fit properly in my butt and waist at the same time. :faint: It's not like I have an odd-sized body... size 12-14 but with shortish legs, big hips and a narrow waist.

DH has actually been on my case about how I've been dressing (old jeans and sweatshirts). I guess I need to lose about 20 pounds and then go shopping... hopefully, some clothes will fit better then. Even when I was working out constantly and a size 6, I had a hard time finding clothes I liked. :confused3

For me? Not often. When I do its just usually t-shirts shorts jeans and tops I can fit the "girls" into with out looking like a streetwalker, for the kids, good lord... I am an kids/baby clothes addict. They can probably go 2+ months each with out wearing the same thing... I have all the outlets that help with my addiction.. at least its easier on my wallet...

A kindred spirit! I love buying clothing for my kids. If I was only half as well-dressed as they are... ;) But they are so much more fun to shop for and they look better in their clothing than I do  (darn these extra 10 lbs. :lmao:).

The jeans thing sounds like me. I'm the same size - anywhere from 10-14 depending on the brand, but my waist is small compared to my hips. At least that's how I like to look at it rather than admitting I have big hips. :rotfl:

I shop "seasonally", but it's mostly because I refuse to spend a lot of money on any 1 single item of clothing, so what I do buy (cheaply) doesn't tend to last very long. I need to start looking at some things as an "investment" and get some higher quality things...but I really have a hard time wrapping my head around $120+ for jeans!

I try to channel Stacy and Clinton from What Not to Wear on the occasions I do shop for myself...like recently when I needed to get a few dresses for upcoming weddings. Two of the most important things I kept telling myself...
  1. Dress the body you have now to look the best that you can. Don't buy clothes you hope will fit someday or put off shopping until you have a different body.
  2. Things can be altered! If it's an item I like and the 10 is too small in some places, but the 12 kind of fits but is too big in some places, buy the 12 and just ahve it altered. The tailor is your friend. Yes, it adds a bit to the price of the garment, but if you feel really good in it and it fits well, it's worth it.

I hate shopping so much and only do it when desprate! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one. All my life I was made to feel like I was the strange one for hating it when it looks like we've got pleanty of people voting so far that they feel the same way :)
