How often do you go to the Doctor?

I'm a nurse. Nurses make the worst patient.:rolleyes1 I go only when I'm so sick or hurt that I've run through my bag of tricks. I have yearly Paps & mammos and I see my therapist weekly, psych monthly for meds. Otherwise I don't go much. And I'm healthy as a horse.

Once every 3 weeks, bloodwork every 6 weeks, gyno twice a year, specialists at least 3 times a year for evaluations. TOOOOO MUCH!!

EVERY DAY! (But then again, I work there....:rotfl:)

Not often enough. I have not been to a Gyno in 3 years and not had a real full physical in 9. I rarely get sick other than the occasional cold. My DDs are on my back to go. I have no excuse. I am fully insured-just lazy and I hate doctors (not personally, you understand, just professionally).

This is me and I'm not proud of it but I'm just a big procrastinator. And I hate going but also not in a personal sense because I do love my doctor's group!

For the previous poster who feels all doctors are just in it for the money, please find yourself a better doctor! In my experience MOST doctors really do care for and about their patients.

I go to the gynecologist once a year for a check-up and once every three months to get my Depo shot. That's it. I don't even have a primary care physician.

This is about me in a nutshell. Lately doctors almost every 2 weeks. I am about fed up of it all actually. Thankfully we have medicare, or else I am not sure what I would do about that part.

I hear ya Momma, by the way how are you doing?? Haven't talked in a bit.

Yearly physical to my regular MD & my gynecologist.
Yearly mammogram.
Other visits as necessary when I am sick, which doesn't happen very often.

A lot of older folks won't go to the doctor because they're afraid that something is wrong with them and the doctor will tell them.

If they don't go, they don't get told and can continue to live without that knowledge.

It sounds wacky to some folks, but I honestly get that.

I go once a year and every time I'm sick enough to need help.

good to know i'm not the only one that doesn't go.

The last time i went to the doctors was in 2000 to my pediatrician because i never got the final hepB vaccination that I need when I transfered schools.

I go to the eye doctor yearly, and dentist every 4 months. doctors are just way too personal for my liking. And well i've never been sick enough to go since getting medical insurance. Before that it was to the urgent care centers if it was that bad.

Rarely ever... I went to my gyno two years ago but I have been able to get my PCP to write for my BC prescriptions for the last year.... I am going to go back this year but to be honest most of the docs I work with have informed me that it really isn't prudent to get a pap smear yearly after 3 normal paps. They recommend every 3 years, so technically I am not late. :rolleyes1

I haven't been to see my PCP in 7 years... I just see him around at work as he is the intesivist in the unit I work in... If I am starting to have problems with my asthma or need by BC refilled... i just ask him for albuterol or ortho cyclen.

As far as my kiddle well lets just say I made an appt with her pediatrician last week to get her the 2nd varicella vaccine that school is requiring and the convo went like this

"Um... Mare, I haven't seen her since 2005"

"Yea, I know she hasn't been sick"

"You are worse then the parents of the clinic patients I see on Tuesdays"

"I know... but if I really thought there was something wrong I would have had her to you.. I can do everything you do at an annual check up anyway... and there is no copayment "

He laughs at me as we have know eachother a long time but I am pretty terrible with that stuff.... I'm an RN.. if I really suspected ugly.. she would immediately be taken to CHOP ;)

I go every 4 months to my oncologists and my orthopedic oncologist. This means I also go for an MRI, CT scan, and an x-ray every 4 months.
I go to my regular PCP every, 2 or so months. Let's just say that having bone cancer and random aches makes me paranoid...
I visit the dentist anywhere from every week to every 4 weeks. My last appointment is later this month, and then I move on to braces.
I got to my eye doctor every year.
