How Often Do You Eat in Restaurants when on Vacation?

WE always do 1 sit down a day and often 2. We dont make PS's and have never had a problem.I call it a holiday, a vacation is when I have to get some meals ready. :teeth:

We have at least one sit down meal per day also. Usually lunch or dinner, if breakfast happens to be one of the sit downs, then we usually always do a dinner as well.

We usually eat dinner at a sit down. There have been times, though, when we've had breakfast and dinner as sitdowns. The next day, though, I'd rather only have a sit down lunch. Just too much food.

We usually do four or five sitdown meals a week, including a character breakfast or two. Except for the character breakfast, we eat breakfast in the room. Then, most days we have either lunch or dinner at a sitdown restaurant with the other meal being counter service. Some days we have counter service for both lunch and dinner, especially on the days we've had a character breakfast.

We aren't big eaters, so our selections for sit down meals are based more on atmosphere than anything else. We have a couple of favorite spots, and we like to try at least one or two new restaurants (both sitdown and counter service) each trip.

We at least eat one sit down with PS meal a day. There is only so much burgers and dogs a girl can take. :)

Our first trip was quite commando-style, and we had 4 sit-down meals over our 7-day stay; we also missed 2 PS's either because we fell behind in our itineraries and didn't get there on time or were too tired to bother and just went for resort counter-service and bed.

Our trips since then have been much more relaxed and dining has become more of a priority than park attractions. We decide which restaurants we want and then plan the day around our PS's, averaging one sit-down meal per day.

I've tried to bring breakfast foods to eat in our room, but there's something about being on vacation that sends us out to the food court anyway. Somehow "home" foods don't work for us at WDW. ;)

When we are at Disney we usually have breakfast in the villa and eat a late lunch in a nice restaurant. We do not eat dinner. We very seldom use counter service restaurants.

I very seldom make a PS because we go in Nov, Dec and January. I don't like to plan ahead.

We are taking GC on their spring break this year (Apr. 2) so I have already made dinner PS for this time.

June

We don't usually eat breakfast , ever. We're not big breakfast eaters. :confused3 We'll eat breakfast if we have a character meal, but we schedule later ones.

Aside from that, lunch and dinner are always sit down or hot counter service. We never cook in the room or eat deli sandwiches or anything.

sit down dinner each day and since the DDE card sit down lunches are about as cheap as counter service!

Usually we do 1 sit down meal a day but last time we got the silver plan so it was 2 sit down meals in one day, way to much food, I'll never do that again

we eat two sit down meals per day at wdw. we are not breakfast eaters so we eat an early sit down lunch and an late sit down dinner.

At least once a day. Sometimes twice. On our upcoming trip it will be two or three times a day because we are doing a short trip and want to fit in several restaurants. We love character breakfasts and like to sit down later in the day to cool off. We always have gone in May or June- when the park hours are long and the weather is hot.

We love to eat out while on vacation, so we usually plan a hearty sit-down breakfast, skip lunch (but DD always needs a midday snack!) and have an early sit-down dinner. Restaurant dining is a large part of the whole vacation experience for our family.

we are not big breakfast eaters, DH :smooth: likes his cereal in the room, me for breakfast, coffee, coffee, coffee...even though this is our maiden voyage to WDW, we have been to DL many times..their meals are HUGE, so we devised this plan the other day..
mornings---same as above
lunch---counter service or sit-down item we agree on--share
"on the fly" snack---share (this should work especially well at Epcot
you could sample lot's of different varieties, and not be stuffed!
repeat above as necessary

dinner---share a sitdown entree and salad, possible dessert too..
specialty dinners (2 planned 7 night stay) share salad, sides,
dessert, order separate entrees. Oh yeah...individual drinks (I no
share my vino!!! :drinking1

the reason we made this plan was cuz ( 1) probably save a little $$$ (2)
we could sample A LOT of different things--again, something to consider, especially @ Epcot ( 3) we would never be so full as to be uncomfortable
(4) no doggie bags (5) we like to have a little sweet snack in the evening to take back to our room, but if we have too big of a dinner, we miss that :mickeybar :mickeybar

I was just curious, but how often does everyone actually dine in a sit down restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner when on vacation? My husband and I realized that on our last 4 vacations that we had only eaten in a restaurant 3 or 4 times on week long trips. The rest of the time we eat in our room or grab stuff on the go (like muffins, apples, deli sandwhiches, etc.). I was just curious about how many people do not do this and actually eat at places like the Sci-Fi Diner, The Rainforest Cafe, The Crystal Palace, etc. for a lot of their meals, and how long their trips normally are.

So for a week we usually only eat in a place about 3 or 4 times. :)

We usually have one sit down meal a day during our vacation, occassionally 2 if we do a character breakfast. To eat all 3 meals at restaurants would be more food than I could eat. I seldom do snacks, though, apart from some peanut butter crackers I take with me into the parks.

I'm not a big breakfast eater, and DH is more than happy with a bowl of creeal or muffin, so usually we'll just stop at a counter service type place (BW Bakery, etc.) for breakfast. Once a trip we'll have something substantial.

Lunch depends on the time of the year. If it's in the cooler months, usually a sit down at a moderate restaurant, or maybe noshing around Epcot. In the warmer months we often just have a light snack, or even some fruit.

For dinner we pretty much always go out to one of the upscale full service resturants for dinner, but sometimes will eat at the Kona Cafe or Spoodles or Mama Melroses.

You asked so here it is. Take into account that my sister and I are obsessive planners and planning is half the fun of going to WDW. Generally our trips are for about 1 week. We do at least 1 sit down meal per day (dinner) sometimes 2 (usually a character breakfast for the kids). I am on vacation and I want to have a nice dinner and know where I am going to eat and approximately what time. We decide where we want to eat, (mixing in old favorites and new places) and then plan our days. I know I will be back to WDW (especailly since we just joined DVC) so I don't stress if I miss something, it is usually there the next trip or if it is truly something that will not be there it is planned. In the off season, we have gone out to the parks early, returned to the room in the afternoon then head out to dinner. This summer we are going to try and sleep late then hit the parks and stay since the hours are later.

We have at least one nice sitdown meal a day on vacation. That meal is always dinner. For breakfast we might grab somethning quick most days but do one sit down of those too during the trip. Lunch is always counter service if we are hungry. We usually only get to the parks for 4 hours or so a day and don't want to waste the time to eat at a sitdown in the parks for lunch. Eating out is one our highlights though we eat out at home quite a bit. We don't even leave the WDW resort. We eat all meals onsite.

We usually eat only about 4 ps meals per trip. We like to be spontaneous and not have to be at a certain place at a certain time. And we like a lot of the counter service places at WDW. Like Flame Tree BBQ, CHH, Caseys, Beaches n Cream, Pecos Bills.
