How often do menu's change???

I've noticed that Spoodles menu has changed since we were there last summer. They had salmon on risotto but now it's replaced with another salmon dish.

I was just wondering how often restaurant menus change?

From someone that used to be in the restaurant business, actually worked at a Disney restaurant a million years ago, in "normal" fine restaurants the menu usually has some permanent changes I'd say every few months and usually specials every day. However, at Disney things are a little different, I'd say generally they don't change menus even every few months on average because it's easier to have it stay the same and they don't feel the same pressure to change the menus because of the different people that are there all the time. Of course, they will still have specials, but for the most part, I'd venture to say that most of the specials are done quite often-it's just that the Disney visitor wouldn't know that. Victoria's and Alberts is the exception. I believe that they have different menus every single night and that it's never exactly the same. At the same time, if a new chef starts at one of the other restaurants, he/she may have some ability to change the menu to a certain degree. Is Spoodles a Disney owned restaurants or is it an outside co?-that makes a difference too. Basically all restaurants are different and there is no definite pattern even at Disney! Even at disney, the chefs must have some creative lee-way (Is that how to spell that?) or some of the better chefs would not want to stay. Let's put it this way, at the higher end restaurants at Disney you'll find more changes than you will at the other ones.

For Disney it depends on the restaurant. For counterservice type places they change very infrequently. For most sit-down they change more often but not drastically. For the "fine-dining" places like CG, Flying Fish Citricos, etc they perhaps a few more times than seasonally. However they usually have a few standard items that are almost always on the menu. For example Flying Fish has potatoe encrusted fish that a prior chef developed and it is so popular it is still on the menu.

They will also run the same items year after year during the same time of the year.

Also As dtsaous said, when a chef moves from one restaurant to another restaurant on property, you may see the new restaurant have "drastic" menu changes to reflect the chef's attitudes. For example, a few years ago the chef of Artist Point moved to Jiko's and you could see the difference in Jiko's menu. It was still african based but had another take on what that means.
