How often do fellow DVC owners have success renting/transferring points/ressies?

Somewhat curious how likely it is to either transfer 2-300 points to a fellow DVC owner, or rent a ressie for the upcoming spring break period. Just looking for feedback from those who have tried. Thanks!

Renting points is a farily simple process. Basically you find a member that needs the points, agree on financial terms and transfer the points through Member Services.

$10 per point is the common figure used to transfer points, although if you are up against the end of a Use Year, you may need to discount the points a bit in order to be sure you can get rid of them.

There is a rent/trade board on this site that you are welcome to visit to try and get hooked-up with a member that needs points.

If you have a current ressie that you cannot use, then I would really encourage you to cancel the reservation rather than trying to rent out the week itself. There very well may be fellow DVC members who are waitlisted for that week.

We rented points to another dvc member this Fall for the first time. We would have just transferred points , but some of them were borrowed and you can't transfer those. It all went very smoothly. I posted on rent/trade board and got a few responses but these were to first to committ. I made the ressie for the other member and put there name on it also. I had all their info including their dvcmember number because we were originally going to transfer the points. I sent the confirmation to them and they sent the money to Me($10/point). The did send the total amount because it was close to the time of the reservation. Otherwise, I would have asked for 1/2 then and total 30 days out. Very easy and painless. We used the money to stay at Swan CL for our New Year's trip.
