Dh and I have been paid monthly for years. Works for us.

I believe it's what you get used to.

Dh has a 2nd income with 26 pay periods a year. That's fine, too.

We save that one for the bills that are non- monthly like auto insurance, AAA membership, savings for vacation and big ticket items, etc.

My husband has been paid bi monthly for the last 23 years. Paydays 1st and 15th. I do all the finances and I actually like this because the paydays are consistent. I split up all our bills by their due date and pay the bills with due dates between the 1st and 14th with the first monthly pay and the second half with the mid-month paycheck. His pay is steady each year once the annual raise goes into effect, so the amounts are consistent. Makes it simple.

I would be driven crazy by an every 2 week payday schedule and varying paycheck amounts.

Twice a month. Pension is deposited on the 9th and social security is deposited on 24th.

Retired here. No pension. Waiting to take Social Security until my full retirement age 14 months from now. So to answer the original question, not paid at all. I just pay my bills out of savings.

Starting this year I get paid weekly. Temps down south who got paid weekly didn’t want to get hire because they said they didn’t want to be paid every two weeks. Lol. At least that’s what they told us. Not buying it sorry I don’t want to get paid every two weeks so I want to stay a temp. Even if that is true so temps have a say and we don’t. Took a little while to get use to weekly pay checks.

I used to get paid bi-monthly and I actually prefer it. Now I get paid bi-weekly and the 3 paycheck months are nice for sure but I still would prefer to be paid bi-monthly because I think it makes it easier to budget the beginning of the month bills and the end of the month bills.

Wow. I’m really surprised at how many people are paid in weekly or bi monthly. I’ve always been paid weekly.

I found bi-monthly more of a budgeting challenge because it just seemed several major bills were due on the 14th and the 28th so I had to make sure to have enough money left two weeks after pay day to cover them instead of just paying the on pay day.

Interesting. Any major recurring bill I would know about more than 2 weeks in advance so just paid it when I got paid. I paid bills based on my checks, not due dates. (i.e. paid on the 1st, would pay bills due before the 15th by the 5th). The other thing I found helpful was using the budgeting software YNAB (which I actually don't recommend as much anymore due to changes in the program and the company, but it made this smooth and easy).

Sorry @tvguy I meant to quote your post.

Monthly- I get paid on the last working day of the month. DH gets paid every other Friday. It's irrelevant. Our credit card bills are due somewhere between the 15th and 20th of the month, the utilities are due between the 5th and 10th. I get paid on the last day of the month and sit down and pay all the bills that night or the next morning. I really like being able to pay them online, electronically- nothing is ever late- but I still record everything in my checkbook and make sure it balances every month.

At the time I was paid bi-monthly my electric bill was the problem bill. They billed two months at a time, the bill came in the mail less than two weeks before the due date, and this was in the 1990's so no way to go online to get an idea of your usage in advance. You could guess that in mild weather the bill might be $150...........but in the winter it could be nearly $400. Took a little work to make sure I had enough left in the account to cover it.

I agree that it’s what you get used to. I’ve always been paid on the 15th and the last day of the month, and DH has always been every other Friday (or Thursday at his previous job). I prefer bi-monthly because with his I’m always like, “Do you get paid this week?” With mine, I just have to see what day it is….but honestly, as long as we both get paid regularly, I’m good.

If you had a consistent amount bi-monthly, you'd have a consistent amount every 2 weeks. My paycheck has been the same for years (barring bonuses and raises).

For Full Time Employment it was always weekly and when I was a *milkman* it was after the delivery route + breakfast.

I find it quite strange that people are paid every two weeks, twice a month etc. Here it's the norm to be paid monthly especially if you are salaried. At least if you know what you're getting each month you know how skint you're going be each month after the bills!

Same here in the Netherlands. I only know weekly payments when you are a temp agent.

I have three jobs, my primary and only W2 job I get paid bi weekly, secondary I get paid the Thursday following work, tertiary I get paid before I start working that day.

DH and I are both federal govt workers, paid bi-weekly. My job before this one was also bi-weekly.
