How often are sheets changed? Opinions?

If you want your sheets changed on a certain day, just take them off the bed and leave them in a neat pile on the floor away from the bed. That's very easy to do (much easier than calling housekeeping or visiting the front desk) & I guarantee you that no housekeeper will put those dirty sheets back on the bed. Putting the sheets into a wet shower is overkill, imo. No need to be mean about it.

I put all of our towels in the bathtub if I cannot see the housekeeping cart in the hallway. I hate towels all over the place, and honestly don't want anyone else to have to pick them up either, so I always look out of the door, and if the cart is within sight I bring them all to the bin on the cart.

That's why I said "a neat pile". When towels/shower are used by multiple people at different times of day, the dirty towels & washclothes can't go in the bathtub mid-day, so we make a neat, out-of-the-way pile. I can't stand dirty things all over the place, either.

I too shower every night before bed. For me that's a must. So I dont really need my bed sheets changed that often to be honest. I agree with taking the sheets off your bed and putting them in a pile. Housekeeping will give you new sheets in that case.

How would you know if they changed the sheets? They make our beds and I wouldn't have a clue if the sheets were changed or not

I've always thought they were changed every 4 days as a standard procedure. I also thought towels hung up were left to be reused but they always take our towels, hung or not.

But no matter, we don't care. It's us in the sheets, not strangers. We change our sheets at home weekly. I need clean sheets when we arrive but I don't need clean ones daily

We all have our ways of making concessions to protect the environment. Some of us never use a plastic bag, others refuse to use a dryer. If you really want to make an impact reduce the amount of beef and products that contain beef. The environmental footprint for one head of cattle is huge.

Many if us make the environment a priority in our daily lives and splurge on vacation. That may mean you eat steak every day, use fresh towels, or enjoy fresh sheets. I think that it is premature to lecture someone on the environmental impact of fresh linens, yet know nothing of the measures these people take when they are at home.

I live in a lake community and until recently never even owned a dryer. We are very careful about water useage, fertilizers and chemicals used, as well as cleaning products. Vinegar and baking soda are my most frequently used cleaning agents, over most commercial brands sold. My husband saves his baggie that his sandwich and cookies are in and uses it until the thing falls apart, my DGD uses reuseable bags and has asked my daughter not to buy any more plastics. We buy cups that we can use at all the coffee shops instead of paper and would rather choke than buy styrofoam. DGD is an environmental agricultural student, and planning on going to college for marine environmental conservation, taking after her grandfather in that she is a waste nothing, use what you take and reuse what you can person.

I do all of these things every day of my life. On vacation my splurge is sheets and towels, and no cooking. I am very contentious at home so that once in a while I can be selfish elsewhere.
But the thing is expecting fresh sheets daily is beyond any hotel service. Can I also request housekeeping to scrub the tub daily as I am on vacation and want to treat myself to a clean bath every night? Nobody really scrubs their own tubs or change sheets daily. Of course if accodents happen they will change if requested and most will not likely say anything if requested but let's say more guests start requesting this. Expect an increase in resort rates. Housekeeping processes are timed and calculated including laundry services. Daily changes are not calculated here. The standard is around 4 days or so.

I have now an idea for a friend who works in the industry. If some guests find a value in crisp, fresh linen nightly they might be willing to pay. As in airlines hotels are looking for auxiallry revenue ideas. A guest demand has a dollar value. This why we now pay for pre-seating or excess bags. So maybe some guests are willing to order and pay for complety turned over rooms daily. Fresh and complety changed everything.

You want your sheets changed every day? Take them off the bed and put them in the bathtub. I had to do that one time at Disney because I kept requesting a clean sheet due to a nasty stain on it the day we checked in. After 2 days, they STILL hadn't changed it. I put them in the wet bathtub after a morning shower. Clean sheets upon our return.
I would have demanded those sheets were changed the first night I was there. I would have taken them off and to the front desk if I had to or demanded a room change. There is no excuse what so ever for that!

Yes, I do want the tub scrubbed daily, and yes, it is scrubbed daily at home. (Last person to bathe scrubs the tub.)

DO you really believe we do not deserve to have the bathtub cleaned daily? I clean my bathroom every day at home, and quite frankly, at the cost of rooms in WDW I would think the cost of cleaning the bathroom is included. The reason I tip my housekeepers well is because I do understand what goes into cleaning, and I very much appreciate what I consider to be pampering while I am vacationing. I have no idea what they are paid, but I add to that wage, since at home I am the person cleaning the bathroom, washing the floors and vacuuming, as well as daily dusting.

The quote you chose was in answer to the "green" aspect of clean sheets, and my answer was in response to that person. I stand by my answer. WE all conserve in the way that makes sense to us. I do a lot in my every day routine to conserve valuable resources, and if I want to splurge with clean towels and sheets on vacation, I have still done my part.

If you want clean sheets every day you just need to let housekeeping know.

But no, I don't scrub down my tub every day. And I don't think most people do. The rest of it I do straighten up, but I don't scrub it all down daily.

The first night we arrived super late. And the same the next night when we came back from the parks and the sheets had not been changed despite leaving a note. It was the top sheet, so we took it off and the next day I stripped the bed and threw the sheets in the tub, to get the message across. I was too tired to deal with it at 1am...

I have been told leaving notes is a bad idea, as many housekeepers don't understand English. Not sure how true it is, but it is possible.

"New sheets, please." seems basic enough for any housekeeper to understand. But, yeah, I know what you mean.

Years ago Disney & all hotels did in fact change sheets & towels every day. Several years ago they left little tents in the room stating for water conservation they would change the sheets very 3rd (might have been 4th -I'm old !) day. The note also said let housekeeping know if you wanted them changed more often. I think this is why most people have assumed the sheets would be fully changed after 3 or 4 nights. I think what irritates many people now is that it seems just one more area where Disney keeps raising prices & cutting service. It started out as a conservation effort, now it seems more about money.

This was the first time I really noticed that they didn't change the sheets at all during our week. I'm ok with 3 or 4 nights, but I will request a change of sheets after 4 nights. Even tho we shower at night, we spend more time relaxing on the bed watching tv or napping on vacation. For the prices Disney charges for the deluxe resorts, yea, they can change the sheets at least once.

Did I imagine it or do they also rotate sheets, bringing the top sheet to the bottom and washing the bottom?
And I'm still wondering, if there isn't an issue like PP where there is a spot on the sheet, how you'd know what they did with them. Is there some tell I should look for? Just cause I'm curious

I have always experienced that if you leave the towels on the floor, they will be replaced. If you hang them up, they will be left.

Personally, I could tell by the crispness of the sheets & the wrinkles that the bed had been made, not changed.
