How often are request honored?

My husband and I are going to the Poly in early Sept. I've never made a request for a room location before (we requested a specific longhouse with a balcony), how likely is it to be honored?

I don't want to get my hopes up, if it isn't very likely.

Of course you never know, but over all my family has had good luck with requests for the most part. I've probably stayed onsite in the range of 25 times, and always had many requests. Of those times, only once were we not able to get any semblance of our request. That was POR, where we requested Alligator Bayou with a few buildings we would like, upper floor outside corner room garden view (there weren't standard and garden views then, they were combined) (see, ours aren't simple requests ;) ) We ended up in magnolia Bend in the last building towards POFQ ground floor. I think we might have gotten a corner room. It turned out fine, we got to try another section of the resort (and confirmed that we liked the other section better :lmao: ) But other than that we've stayed at POR, POFQ, CS, Pop, ASM, CBR, WL, AKL, and Poly and always gotten our requests, usually exactly. A few times we had to persist, as the room we were assigned wasn't at all what we requested, but each of those times (except once when we moved in the morning) they were still able to fulfill the request. We didn't throw a fit or anything, just asked politely and indicated that we were willing to wait for it to be ready or to see what else there was that night meet some of our requests. Some of these were during spring break, many were during what used to be less crowded times but now I'm not so sure those exist :scared1:

We just stayed in July and requested a certain building on far left side (started with T) to be closer to Ceremonial house. td ghem i was travelinv with 2 toddlers and a grandma. We even paid extra for castle view. We got the building on the far right side instead. To be honest I liked it better because we walked to TTC, and the parking was easy, but we paid full price and didn't get the request. Same thing last year at CS. Requested bldg 4 to be closer to bus and laundry while traveling with a sick 2 yr old right before his surgery and they put us in 7 which was under construction and the walkway was closed. Farthest from bus and laundry that we could have been! Made res 8 months in adv, made request 30 days out and called 10 days out to confirm request. We go every year and rarely get our request. If there's a secret I'd like to know it!

I have had about a 80% success at Poly when I have made a request. That's 4 out of 5 times. I have actually stayed at Poly more often but did not make requests the earlier times.

The one time we didn't get our request we had requested Samoa, facing volcano pool. We got Rapa Nui :sad1:. We asked for anything closer but there was nothing. The CMs that checked us in were not exactly magical that day - they didn't even give us leis. Other times we would just request a longhouse. Last year we did get Samoa and the CM even asked us which side and which floor we would like as there were a few rooms open.

I'm thinking the earlier in the day that you check in the better but I have no proof of that.

We have been fortunate on most of our stays as all of our requests were met with the exception of one stay. I think a lot depends on what time of year you go and how crowded the resort is. Also, the more requests made on a reservation the harder it is for them to accommodate. In these type of situations, one may not get all of their requests met.

I've always requested Fiji, marina side, 1st or 3rd floor and gotten it in November when it want super busy, but busier than September will be.

We stayed at Poly last week. I had requested Samoa, ground floor. When we checked in at 11:00 we were told our room was not ready and we would receive a text. I asked if my room was in Samoa, she said yes ground floor. ( perfect). Well never received a text, so about 3:00 went to the front desk and our room had been ready, just no text. We proceeded to the room, only to discover, it was a King bed ( there were four of us). I called the front desk and they were trying to be helpful, but there was now nothing available in Samoa. They said that was probably why they gave me that room. I said that didnt make any sense, with four of us. I said if we knew that at 11:00, we could of made the change then and there might of been a room available. We ended up with the option of getting a roll away for that room or a room on the third floor next to the main building. We took that and they gave us a $50.00 credit for our trouble. The room worked out fine.

That is a good observation. Always ask what kind of bed is in the room. I often travel with my DM and we need two beds but sometimes with two people you will get assigned a king bed even if not requested. I have learned to always ask so I'm not surprised when we get to the room.

I'm about 50-50 when it comes to getting my requests met.

My one stay at the Poly, I made 3 requests and got one of them. I wanted 3rd floor Raratonga and ended up with first floor Tokelau. But I did get connecting rooms, and that was what was the most important.

There is no way to say how often they will be honored. Depends on a lot of variables, such as what occupancy is like at the time the room is assigned, or how specific the request is. If you have several requests they might be able to fill only one or a few of them.

The resort will honor them if they can, but there's no guarantee that any request will be filled.

We get our requests about half the time. We usually have more than one request, often only get one of those met. Always request connecting rooms, but only got that request twice - we go about 3times per year. To be fair, we are fine with that since we know that others with children need the connecting rooms more than we do.

Room requests are very much a matter of what is happening while you are there - crowds, other people's requests, etc

Good luck!

It's possible we have just been very lucky, but we have always had our room requests met at Poly. It's our favorite resort, and we have stayed there many times. The one time I didn't make a room request, we had a terrible view. It's was 2nd floor GV room in Hawaii. It overlooked a housekeeping area. On a positive note it was very convenient to the lounge.

We have always had all of our requests met. We book no later than 8 months out and my request is firmly placed at that time. I have had several CMs explain that the sooner you place your request, the more likely it is to be granted. Having said all that, I absolutely understand that they are, just that: Requests. I certainly would never let it make or break our trip if I didn't get what I asked for.. Just be sure to place it ASAP. Have fun planning!

I've never NOT had my requests met. On our last 3 trips I had 2-3 different requests and they managed to get us a room that met all of them. I put the requests in when I do online check-in. If its not a listed option at that point then I call and add it. Good luck!!

I have NEVER had my requests met. I always ask for a room close to transportation or lobby but we somehow end up with the furthest room possible. It never ruins my trip and I never say anything since I know they are simply requests. Good luck with your requests but don't get your hopes up!
