If you are out shopping for jeans and you ask the sales associate for their opinion on what size you are and they say a bigger number that what you expect? OR if say you are trying on the jeans and they suggest to go up a size?
AND I don't mean if they are rude about it. Just say they are not. Are you offended because you don't think your that size? How much honesty do you really want from a sales associate?

I wouldn't be offended. Only if they were rude about it would I have a problem.

Why ask a question if you are going to be offended with the answer?

Wouldn't be offended at all. They probably know what brands run small, run big etc. Would you (general you) be offended if they told you to go down a size? If you ask a sales person their professional (this is their profession) opinion then you should expect the truth. Otherwise, you may get home and decide to return the purchase.

Hmmmmmmmm were you the sales associate? ;)

Please don't be offended. Especially if you are in a better retailer. When I first started out my retail career, I worked in the stores, and I can't tell you how hard it is to stand there and watch a size 16 stuff themselves into a size 10 because of vanity. I worked for Talbots, so we were very hands on, and that is what the customer expected back then, and I hated seeing someone strain the seams and zipper, then ask me how it looked. I was always very honest, very polite but honest , and would suggest either a larger size or a different style.

Sometimes people did get offended, but mostly they were more concerned about how they looked. I just didn't want returns because it hurt my sales! Sizing is so different, and looking fabulous in your clothes is so much more important than knowing a single digit size is on the label :goodvibes

I've found most sales people know their stuff. I wouldn't be offended at all. Whenever a salesperson has guessed my size in the last they have nailed it. They know their clothes and whether they run big or small. I usually wear medium and in one shop the salesperson brought me a large. Fit perfectly.

1. Don't ask a question you don't want the answer to.
2. Who asks the salesperson what size they are? Pick your usual size and try it on. Try varous sizes accordingly.

No, not offended at all.

Some brands run big, some smaller so my "size" varies on the cut, style, brand.

And no one see the label but you so wear what fits, not what you want to fit.

No muffin tops please!

This. If I ask the question, it's not because I want flattery, it's because I want pants that fit.

I have never asked a sales person what size I am. I mean, don't you have a general idea what size clothes you wear? If in doubt grab a couple different sizes and try them on. The only people I ask how something looks are my daughters. I'll get a more 'real' answer from them.

Don't you already know, or at least have a pretty good idea, of what size you are? Why would you need to ask a sales associate?

Grab a piece of clothing in your size, try it on and if it is too small, go up a size, if it is too big, go down a size. :confused3

I wouldn't ask if I was going to be offended by the answer. If it's a sensitive issue and someone might get offended, just don't ask.

::yes:::thumbsup2

Reminds me of the "do these make my butt look big" remark. Seriously? What woman has no idea what SIZE she is unless she's dumb as dirt. You start from there then make the adjustments, every distributor has different sizes.

I'd be more concerned about getting jeans that were comfortable and looked good than with whatever number is on the tag, so, no I wouldn't be offended. I asked, they helped. Not their fault if I'm shocked/embarrassed at my size.

I can't imagine asking a sales person what size she thinks I am. I am more likely to ask if she knows if something runs small/large. I know what size I am, but in some stores, I wear two sizes smaller than I really should (thanks to vanity sizing). Also, some cuts/fit run bigger or smaller.

But no, I wouldn't be offended. I don't think I look the size I usually wear. :confused3

If I asked the sales associate then I would not be offended if she thought I should try a bigger size. If I was going to be offended I wouldn't ask the question. I've never asked about sizes though. Occasionally if I'm looking for something in particular I will ask a sales associate if they have it, so I don't have to spend time looking at every rack of clothing in the store.

I want them to be completley honest. I even ask strangers in the store for an honest opinion.

If you are a person who is easily offended, I recommend not asking for opinions from sales associates. ;)

Personally if I am asking for opinions, I want their opinion whether I like it or not.
