OK, let's do another voting poll. NOT who, this time, but HOW.

Which method do you use to vote?

Absentee?
Early satellite voting?
In person at your precinct on election day?

at my precinct. we don't have early votinng and while i am technically eligible to vote absentee, i would prefer to vote in person at my precinct. besides - if i go in person, i get that nifty little sticker. ;)

My voting location is just across the way from my daughter's daycare, so I just stop there after I drop her off in the morning or before I pick her up.

I work in Pensacola and live @ 13 miles away, in Alabama. We use the cards you have to fill in the space with a mark like the SAT or ACT. Then you "feed" it into a machine.

I'll be there in person! ::yes::

At my precinct about 2 blocks away from my house.

I'll be voting at my precinct using the dreaded the punch card ballot!

We had early voting, but I don't know what "satellite" early voting is.

No early voting here, but probably wouldn't have done it even if it was offered. I vote by walking out my front door, across the church parking lot and into the building...can't get much easier then that for me!

Same here!

I hated it when, back in 2000, people were putting voters in FL down because they were "too stupid to figure out a punch card".

I'm in IL and we use them here too. The first time I voted, I stood there for about 5 minutes trying to figure out what line to punch for what person. And every time since I still have to go slow and really look and think about what I'm doing. For those unfamilure with this type of system, the punch holes are very, very close together, and multiple choices for multiple offices can be in a very small area of the card. The options are listed both on the right and left side of a "page" but the holes to punch are in the middle of the page, near where the binding on a book would be. So if you're looking at the left hand page, you punch to the right of the names, and if you are looking at the right hand page, you punch to left of the names. So you could easily punch one column over by mistake if you aren't careful.

I can see how a senior, who may not have the best vision, could easily make a mistake. Also, those cards are like cardboard, it takes a bit of "oomph" to get that sucker to punch through all the way, again a senior or disabled person may have some trouble. Heck, someone with carple tunnel or a broken arm or wrist may find it to be a challenge.

The moral of the story? If you are confused or are having any other kind of problem, ASK FOR HELP! That's what the volunteers and poll workers are there for.

At our precinct, which is conveniently located in the community center behind our house. :)

Our precint is at the fire house.

Will County is getting scantron sheets this year -- darken in the circle. I was under the impression that was a statewide initiative, but I could be wrong. The nice thing about it is that you can feed it into the machine and it will warn you if your card is unreadable, or if you didn't vote for one office, or if you voted for more than one canidate. Then you have the choice of destroying that ballot and voting again.

I hated the punch cards also.
