How necessary is park hopping?

typically, I never really park hop during the day. I like to spend most of the day one park. However, if I get everything done at the park that I want to do, it is very nice to be able to go someplace else for dinner, shopping, or go ride one of my favorite rides at the other parks. So I would say, YES park hopping is a must.

Yup, I would have to agree. Since they were invented we have always chosen them, they give you so much more flexibility as you already know. I would still buy them for your short trip because you can jump out to another park and get so much more from your trip. We do have a car so I don't know whether that makes it any easier for hopping, but it doesn't take that much time to switch or even go completely off site and return later.
