How necessary is it to book 11 months out?

DW and I just purchased (as in 1 week ago!), so excuse me for asking some naive questions here...

We purchased at SSR, and we have a December use year. We just booked a studio (preferred BW) for February 24 through March 3 (using 134 points). We have 116 points left over. My extended family has booked a trip to a Cabin at Fort Wilderness for next Thanksgiving (November 21 through 25), and my family would like to stay at SSR in a One Bedroom from the 25th through the 30th (that would use 110 points). I have read on these boards that you need to be very aggressive about securing your reservations for the holiday season. Will I need to be calling on December 26th, and every day thereafter, adding a day to our stay each day, in order to get our reservation? This is the week after Thanksgiving. Do I need to be that concerned about this, or can I wait until the 30th to book the week and be alright?

Also, do I ask to bank my 6 extra points (I know, it isn't much, but I still want to keep them) at the time I make my reservation, or is that done separately? Thanks for the help.

I don't think you need to worry at SSR.

Both stays are in your December 2006 use year. You would not have to bank the 6 extra points until September 30, 2007.

I agree with Debbie - SSR is the largest on site DVC resort. There is no need to call day by day at the 11 month window to secure a reservation there - even for the week of Thanksgiving or Christmas. One call will get you what you want.
