DD's school is looking for a different type of fund raiser, besides that booklet that has expensive little bitty crap in it. You have all seen them I am sure.

Anyways, we thought about making a school calendar where each class gets to do the picture of a month. Personalize the calander with school activities and days off, Maybe even the childrens birthdays. So basically the kids would make this.

What do would you pay for something like this?? And do you think this would sell?

Any other ideas on fund raisers would help too. We just done the chocolate bars and plan to do those next spring too, but looking for something for the fall.

Thanks

<font color=navy>Sounds like a great idea! What kind of paper would you use, and how would you bind the calendar?

I would pay $12 - 15 for a calendar.

But consider this fundraiser. My daughter's school held a Read-a-thon as a Fall fundraiser. They raised over $25,000 and got to keep all of it. Expenses were just the paper to print the Read-a-thon forms, goodies for turning your forms and money in on time and prizes for the top readers for each class.

They are doing a Math-a-thon this Spring.

They have found that more people are willing to donate money for this kind of fundraiser than any other.

They also raised $12,000 a couple years ago selling Yankee Candles.

Mary Jo,

We will have a regular printer print them and bind them. So I assume the paper will be thick like most other calanders.

We have found a gold mine fundraiser.... homemade pies!

If you can gain access to a school mixer (HUGE version of stand mixer used for school lunch prep) that is a big help.

We sold frozen apple, cherry, and peach pies for $8 each. You buy everything in bulk and use canned filling except for the apples. Make a huge batch of pie dough and start rolling! We have made 500+ pies in a day. It goes really fast if you just delegate jobs and do it! We put them in 2 Gal. ziploc bags and froze them in the school deep freeze.

Deliver them frozen with cooking instructions - we do this twice - at Thanksgiving and Easter.

Everything is prepaid when ordered. This way you know exactly what supplies you will need before you even start. We usually make 10-20 extra pies and they always sell.

PM me if you want any more info! We have done this for several years, and people are always asking to make sure we will be doing it again each time the holidays roll around. Lots of repeat customers!!

Your idea for a school calendar is a good one for a fund raiser. We used to do that when I was in school, our band class did it for several years. We just used one picture (group picture of the band) at the top, then tear-off sheets on the bottom for the calendar months. I don't remember the price of them, but this was about 30 years ago...so....If you wanted to buy a calendar but not have your birthdays listed it was one price, if you wanted your family's birthdates listed then it was a little more.

A guy at work takes orders for his kid's school selling Red Wheel products. They sell frozen pizza's, enchiladas, egg rolls, and other items including cheese cake. He gets huge orders.

I like the calender idea and I would pay about $10-$15 for one, but I don't think it will work very well over half way through the school year. It would be a good thing to do at the begininng of the year though. Along with days off you could put when report cards are due, sporting games, etc.
