How much would you pay for this Mickey Mouse cake? *** Updated pics page 3

I'm having my son's 1st b-day a Mickey Mouse theme. I need a cake to feed about 40 adults. Cupcakes for the kids.........

I gave someone who does cakes on the side a picture of the cake below as an example.

She quoted me less than a bakery I called, but I still want to make sure I'm getting a good price.

So, how much do you think I should pay for a cake similar to this? Smash cake included.

One layer will be white, one layer chocolate. She also said, "I prefer to do most of my cakes in butter cream with Fondant accents (so you can consume more of the cake). Fondant can get hard – it looks great but dries out quickly. I can also do all fondant of you would prefer but cost would go up from what I have quoted below. " So, the cake in the picture below would be more butter cream, less Fondant.

My avitar is a cake from about 10 years ago. I think we paid $140 for it back then. Probably cost more than a local baker, but we got it from a famous baker that competes on tv in those "cake art" competitions. We probably paid double because of who made the cake...lol It was a one time thing, just like your son's 1st birthday. If it's not an annual thing, it's perfectly fine to splurge on special occasions.

I realize this thread was brought back from the dead, lol, but since we are on the topic...

SAMs club has gorgeous tiered cakes for next to nothing. I want to say the 2 tier one I bought was $35! And they have Disney options.
