How much would you pay for a clean house?

we psy 80 every other week, she hasn't raised her price in years. Our house is 3400 sf with 2.5 bath and 4 br. She doesn't clean the whole house, but we trust her.

This is what I pay in Texas! 4BR, 3.5 bath 3400sf house. We preclean the night before. The company I use sends the same to ladies every other week. I will give up lots of other thing before I give up my house cleaners!!

I think its hard to judge what it should cost, it really depends on the size as in square footage not number of rooms. It also really does depend on how clean you are and where you are located. No one will quote you the exact same price as they quote someone else. What I recommend is to get multiple quotes then you can gauge if your being charged fairly. I do recommend you choose your housekeeper based on recommendations and cleaning skill not how friendly they are. You don't want to chat them up you want them to clean up and leave. Unless your looking for a mothers helper then you want someone you like.

I have 4 bedrooms, a study, kitchen, living, and family room, mud room, laundry room, and 3.5 bathrooms. I pay $75.00 every two weeks. I do supply the cleaning supplies, and vacuum. I do have a full basement but if I were to get that cleaned they would charge more. My girls will also change linens on beds. I live in a suburb right out of Chicago. Good luck..

My house is also 2900 square foot. I do not tip except at Christmas I give a gift, and then always give the girls pop when they leave. I know that several cleaning companies/women will charge more if you don't have them come every 2 weeks.

I think it just depends on your area. My housekeeper charges $70 per cleaning. I have over 3000 sq ft. She cleans everything. However, the first time she came- she charged more but not nearly that much. I wouldnt want anyone that cleaned my MIL's house to clean my house. Some things just get crossed :sad2:

OP several people have asked what part of the country you live in (even general area) and you haven't responded so it makes it quite hard to even ballpark a figure for what you're asking. I live in rural upstate NY and know that I would pay far less here than I would in my hometown on eastern Long Island. You can't compare....

standard here is $60 per hour for 2 people, 1.5 hour minimum. that's $90 bucks for whatever i prioritize and what they can do in that time frame. so i'd say if you were really getting the whole house cleaned for $170, top to bottom, you are getting a GREAT deal. if it's $170 for whatever they can do in 4 hours, not so much. i'm 36+ weeks pregnant and have been hiring a friend to thoroughly clean the master bathroom for me every 3 weeks for $20... they don't mind the extra money, it takes less than an hour and i can keep up with the rest of the house myself.

I have a 2750 sq ft home. I have a lady come in every 2 weeks. I pay her $100 for the day. She's here from @ 9-4 and she not only cleans the entire home, but, she does the laundry, folds it and strips the beds and makes them.

Now, we are pretty clean so it's not too hard for her. I also do not have clutter anywhere. She is a friends housekeeper who has off on Wednesdays and wanted to make some extra $. I do know that in my area ( NJ ) company type cleaners are WAY more money then the solo person who cleans. My mom has a cleaning co. and she gets $25 an hour ( which I think is way too much but she gets it...) I have also heard of people who basically get $20 an hour and are usually cleaning for 5 hrs.

Good luck!

We paid around $90 for a once-a-month cleaning here (we live in the suburbs of Chicago). We recently stopped it due to budget concerns though. We were also a little disappointed in the quality of the cleaning as well - it wasn't as detailed as we would have liked.

Today I would happily trade 2 children for a once a week cleaning. If the right person was able to teach them to pick up after themselves I will take them back I suppose:rotfl::rotfl:

I'm in CT and have the best cleaning lady ever!! I live in a 1200sf condo and it takes her about 2 hours to clean 1 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen, living room and one bedroom. My DH sleeps during the day so I have do to our room when he is awake. I pay $50 and she comes every week. I have zero clutter and DD9 is OCD, so her room is always spotless.

A little background- I'm preggo with a number of complications and our house is starting to look like wild animals live here so my husband and I decided to look into hiring a housekeeper for the duration of the pregnancy and maybe a year or so after. I just had my MIL's housekeepers over to give me a quote and I was sort of shocked at the price. Their quote was $170 for our 4br, 3.5 bath house. Does that seem like alot? I could only have them come every other week but that's still $350 per month plus I doubt if we could manage to maintain it for more than a couple of days. I also didn't care for their "tsk tsk" kind of attitude as she swiped her finger across my ceiling fans and such nor the speaking in another language to each other as they walked through my house. I just wanted to be like, "Look I get it, we're messy ok, but I'm standing right here. If you have a problem with it please wait until I leave the room to talk about me." My MIL really loves these ladies though and swears they are the best cleaners she's ever had. If you have a housecleaner, does that seem like a reasonable price and do you love it enough to justify the cost?
Haven't read through the rest of the thread, but it's going to vary a lot on where you live. I live in a suburbs in Alabama, I pay $75.00 per week to have my house cleaned. She is awesom and does whatever I need done that week. She's usually at my house for around 5 hours.

As for the women who came to your house, I would have promptly shown them the door. I think they were rude to you and you should not give them your business. Also, I don't know what your MIL situation is, but I would NEVER use the same cleaning person/service as my MIL.

I live near Indy and just got several quotes

cheapest $65 but not insured and I supply stuff

most $90-$100

So wish I had quotes like you all were getting....

2400 SF 4 bedroom 2.5 bath. I have all hard surfaces downstairs so I think that's part of the issue....more work.
